LET'S TALK ABOUT... THE
1985 EARTHQUAKE
The 1985 Mexico earthquake occurred on
September 19 of that year. It began at 07:17 and
reached magnitude 8.1 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter, that
is, the point on the
earth's surface
where the
earthquake
reached its
greatest intensity,
was located in the
Pacific Ocean, off
the coast of the
state of
Michoacán and
Guerrero.
It lasted 2 minutes and has been the most significant and
damaging in the written history of telluric movements in our
country.

 Fortunately today Mexico has built an "early seismic warning"
system to reduce the tragedy. The system detects movements very
close to the epicenter, and sends the warning of impending chaos
before the shake.

It is important to remember these events to be prepared and

know how to act in the face of this type of disaster.
