There are at least 10 pain scales in common use, They tend
to fall into certain categories: • Numerical rating scales (NRS) use numbers to rate pain. • Visual analog scales (VAS) typically ask a patient to mark a place on a scale that aligns with their level of pain. • Categorical scales: use words as the primary communication tool and may also incorporate numbers, colours, or relative location to communicate pain. • There are three types of pain relieving
medicines: • Simple medicines, such as Paracetamol(1gm) or Calpol up to 4000mg per day. • Anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen 200mg to 400mg thrice a day. • Inj. Diclofenac 25mg to 50mg up to 3 times a day. • Opioids such as tramadol and Fentanyl on advice. DOCUMENTATION
