What comes

first to our
mind?
“Put on the whole
armor of God that you
may be able to stand
against the wiles of
the devil” Eph. 6:11
“We must put on the armor of God
that we may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil. For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.“

1 Peter 5:8-9a. “Stay
sober and alert.
Your opponent the
devil is prowling like
a roaring lion
looking for someone
to devour. Resist
him, solid in your
faith.”
Resisting the
devil does not
mean running
away from him
or being afraid of
him but we must
fight him.
This is what
we call
SPIRITUAL
WARFARE
THE ENEMIES of the
soul:
1.World
2.Flesh
1.World
Power, Prestige, honor
(WEALTH, AUTHORITY)
2. Flesh
(inordinate Desire to satisfy
our senses EX:
GLUTTONY, LUST,
VICES, DRUGS,
ALCOHOL)
3. DEVIL:
SATAN
AND
HIS
DEMON
THE
ENEMY:
SATAN
AND HIS
DEMONS
Nature The term “devil”
is especially
applied to Satan
or Lucifer, the
chief of the
rebellious
angels.
Nature
• while the term
“demon” is
applied to his
followers, the
rest of the
fallen angels.
Revelation
12:
The woman
and the
dragon
“A great sign appeared
in the sky. A woman
clothed with the sun,
with the moon under
her feet, and on her
head, a crown of
twelve stars. She was
with child and wailed
aloud in pain as she
labored to give birth.”
Then another
sign appeared in
the sky; it was a
huge red dragon,
with seven
heads and ten
horns, and on its
head were seven
diadems.
Its tail swept
away a third
of the stars in
the sky and
hurled them
down to the
earth.”
“Then war broke out
in heaven: Michael
and his angels
battled against the
dragon. The dragon
and its angels fought
back, but they did
not prevail and there
was no longer any
place for them in
heaven.”
The huge dragon, the
ancient serpent, who
is called the Devil and
Satan, who deceived
the whole world, was
thrown down to
earth, and its angels
were thrown down
with it.”
“Then the dragon became angry
with the woman and went off to
wage war against the rest of her
offspring, those who keep God’s
commandments and bear witness
to Jesus. It took its position on the
sand of the sea.”

b.1. Possession
(Pagsapi/Pagsanib-
is a state wherein
demons take
temporary full
control of the
body (not the
soul) of a person.
They speak and act
without the consent
of the person and
the person later has
no knowledge of
what transpired
while he was under
their control.
It is the gravest and
the most spectacular
form of demonic
afflictions. NB.
Demons can never
take the soul unless
man freely gives it to
them.

b.2. Demonic Obsession
(Pambubuyo)
has also been called
“demonic temptation,” and
it involves an
intense and
persistent attack
on the mind of
the victim.
– has the following
characteristics: thoughts,
suddenly pop into one’s
mind, which are absurd,
blasphemous, shameful,
horrifying and the like.
Includes compulsions
that affect the
imagination and the
mind which are
blasphemous and
suicidal in nature.
The person can neither
control such thoughts
from coming nor can he
easily rid himself of such
thoughts.
Visual and auditory
hallucinations may
be experienced as
well.
•Thoughts and impulses that
urge people to harm others
•make people think that only
a pact with Satan can get
them out of their troubles or
bring them success
•thoughts to profane the
Eucharist
•thoughts to drive one
to suicide
•affect a person’s dreams
and terrible nightmares
are common
b.3. Demonic
Oppression (Paniniil)
come in a form of
“external physical
attack/pain caused
by the devil.
- symptoms vary from a
very serious to a mild illness.
- There is no possession, loss
of consciousness or
involuntary action and word.
Biblical examples of
oppression:
a.Story of Job: He was
not possessed, but he
lost his children, his
goods, and his health.
Story of Job
Biblical examples of oppression:
b. The bent woman and the deaf
and dumb man: who were cured
by Jesus were not subject to total
possession, but there was
demonic presence that caused
physical discomfort.
bent or deformed woman
c. deaf and dumb/mute man
d. death of Sarah’s
spouses caused by
the demon named
Asmodeus in the
book of Tobit
Manifestations of
Oppression:
Seemingly out of nowhere,
these areas of one’s life
deteriorate with no
apparent cause:
a. Health
b. Relationships
destroys marriages,
breaks up engagements, fosters
fights in the families, and ruins
friendships ending in a desire for
isolation
c. Business / Job
includes impossibility to find work,
even when it seems that a job offer is
certain. The wealthy are suddenly
forced into poverty, business started
to fail, and the employed become
jobless, and always without any
apparent reason
d. Enjoyment
of Life
e. Desire
A person under oppression may
experience physical pains, mental
confusion, psychological illnesses,
depression, horrifying
hallucinations and visions,
diabolical nightmares and auditory
taunting voices from nowhere.
One of the
determining factors
is the
inefficacy
of medicines.
- Demons also
have the power to
provoke sickness.

ATTACK
harassment and sickness made
by infesting spirits in houses,
trees and nature particularly
those elemental spirits,

Extraordinary demonic
harassment may also come
through persons who
desire to harm us, without
our knowledge, by utilizing
occult means.
An example is when a
person contacts a witch
or wizard
(mangkukulam) in order
to cast a spell against us.
An evil spell is like a
blessing but in reverse. The
devil is called upon to
intervene through
witchcraft or sorcery.
a. Curses- curses are blessings
in reverse and curses invoke
evil, and the origin of all evil is
demonic. A curse causes the
suffering of others through the
intervention of a demon.
Those who live good
Catholic lives are
protected with the Blood
of Jesus from all kinds of
curses.
The curse can be divisive,
breaking up marriages,
separating spouses, friends
and the like, causes business
to fail and may bring about
illnesses because the target
will always be sick.
Some signs that point to a
curse, are (1) chronic
depression and sickness, (2)
infertility, (3) breakdowns in
the family and marriage, (4)
financial difficulty, and (5) a
family history of suicide or
unnatural deaths.
b. Spells- (also known as
malefice or hex means to
do evil) That is to make or
manufacture some objects
with the most diverse and
strange materials.
2 Ways:
1. Direct Way: a witch or sorcerer
mixes cursed objects with the
victim’s food or drink while
chanting magic formulas/spells to
bring about pain in the stomach or
to cause the person to fall in love
with a specific person (gayuma).
2. Indirect Way: a witch curses
objects that belong to the victim
(photographs, clothes or other
belongings) or figures that
represent the victim (dolls,
puppets or animal) in order to
bring about pain and suffering to
that person.
This is called “Transfer
material,” and it is struck
with the same ills that
are intended for the
victim.

curses/spells/malefice/hexes
are:

2.Sacramentals
3.Exorcism
4.Prayer
b.4. Diabolical Subjugation or
dependence – people fall into this
form of evil when they voluntarily
submit to the Lordship of Satan.
The two most common forms of
dependence are the blood pact
with the devil and the
consecration to Satan.
b.5. Infestation(Pamumugad)
(house, things, animals)
Infestation (Pamumugad) - is
when extraordinary demonic
activity is centered on an
animal, thing (cars, pillows,
mattresses, dolls, amulets) or
place (house, offices, stores,
fields, building, etc.).
-Various kinds of phenomena that
occur in this situation are vast
and include:
a. unexplained sounds or
noises like mysterious
footsteps and loud bangs,
laughter and screams;
b. temperature of a room
dropping or the feeling of a
cold wind with no discernable
source;
c. objects disappearing
suddenly and materializing in
other parts of the house;
d. strange presence felt;
e. the presence of offensive
odors;
f. interruption of electric
current or the malfunction of
electronic devices;
g. pictures that mysteriously
bang or fall off the wall;
h. doors or windows that
open and close on their own;
i. dishes or other objects
levitating and flying about the
room.
Why are these things
happening?
a. presence of a cursed
object in the house

b. or the house itself is

being cursed.
c. use of the location for
occult activities such as
séances or for a criminal
activity of some kind, such as
prostitution, or drug dealing;
d. performance of satanic
ritual on the premises;
e. or gruesome murders or
suicides having taken place
there.

f. or being caused by a person

being attacked by an evil
presence.
g. Consecration done in the
place or house (padugo)

- Abuse may
be sexual,
physical, or

- Those who go
through these
experiences can end
up living in the dark
emotions of anger,
rage, resentment and
revenge.
- If they do not, those
emotions can weaken

without divine
permission, but God
never wills evil,
suffering or temptation.
God gave us freedom
and allows the
existence of evil, but
knows how to turn it
into good.
When God gives the
demon his permission to
torment us, he does so to
strengthen us in virtue,
like Job as well as many
blessed and saints.
With God on
our side, with
Christ as our
Commander,
and Mama Mary as our loving
Mother,
together with the
saints and the hosts of
angels as our
comrades, truly we will
be victorious in this
spiritual warfare.
The best way to deal with the
devil is to fall in love with God
Thank You!!!
