India International Science
Festival (IISF)
IISF is an initiative of the Vijnana Bharati organised every year since 2015
in association with the Government of India. The Ministry of Science and
Technology, Ministry of Earth Science, and others have partnered in
organizing IISF since its inception.

Till date eight editions of IISF have been organized successfully across the
country, viz. Delhi (North Zone) in 2015 & 2016; Chennai (South Zone) in
2017; Lucknow (North Zone) in 2018; Kolkata (East Zone) in 2019; Delhi
in virtual mode (North Zone) in 2020; Goa (West Zone) in 2021 and IISF
2022, Bhopal (Central Zone) in 2023.

STEM for Schools
STEAM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. This innovative approach to education goes
beyond traditional STEM disciplines by incorporating the arts. By blending these subject areas, STEAM encourages students to explore
connections between seemingly unrelated fields, nurturing a well-rounded and interdisciplinary mindset

Bhavishika
Bhavishika, an extraordinary program initiated by the Indo Science Education Trust. Bhavishika aims to impart foundational knowledge in
Space technology, Space sciences, Satellite communications, and much more to school students, igniting their passion for space exploration and
fostering a new generation of space enthusiasts and scientists.

Knowledge Workshop
The Space Club of India, a platform dedicated to nurturing the passion for space exploration and fostering a community of young space
enthusiasts. Developed under the guidance of ISRO scientists and further enhanced by the Indo Science team's extensive research, our club is
committed to inspiring the next generation of space scientists, engineers, and explorers.

WHAT IS A WEMOSAT

1. WeMoSat is an extremely simplified version of a real satellite which can be used as a hands-on learning tool to learn about
real satellites
2. WeMoSat offers a unique opportunity for students to have a first practical experience of a real space project.
3. Participants will learn all aspects of designing a satellite: selecting its mission, integrating the components, testing,
deployment and then analyzing the data.
4. WeMoSat maps real-time atmospheric parameters like temperature, pressure, humidity and transmits it to a ground station.
5. This data is then displayed in graphical format on a webpage so that students can easily comprehend it.

The WeMoSat Mission
What is the mission
1. Place a WeMoSat to at least 50 to 100 feet and deploy it
2. WeMoSat may float back to earth on a parachute if desired or remain at its deployed location.
3. WeMoSat should measure the atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity during flight
4. WeMoSat should transmit the data to a ground station at least once every few seconds
5. Data it to be analyzed to determine the maximum altitude, temperature, humidity etc
Mission Requirements

Satellite requirements
1. WeMoSat shall measure pressure, temperature and humidity
2. WeMoSat shall transmit data to a ground station
3. WeMoSat Shall Be Built to Fit in a bus which is less than 10 x 10 x 10 cm3
4. WeMoSat Shall Operate on Battery or Solar Power
5. A Parachute Shall Be Properly Secured to One End of the WeMoSat
Deployment

A full fledged WeMoSat can be launched using a model rocket or helium balloon and then released from a certain
altitude. While descending slowly with a deployed parachute, it collects real-time atmospheric data regular height
intervals and transmits it to a ground station. However, in case of WeMoSat version we do not have the launching
systems. This is done to make a very simple first space project for school students.
Satellite Subsystems

A Satellite Is Made Up of Six Major Subsystems:

1. Controller Unit
2. Sensor Payload or Subsystems
3. Communications Subsystem
4. Attitude Control Subsystem
5. Power Subsystem
6. Structure
Controller Unit
Controller unit is the brain of the WeMoSat (CANSAT). It controls all
other systems of wemo-sat.
Controller unit used in our case is called NodeMCU.
Sensory System
Sensory system consists of sensors in wemo-sat. controller unit reads
data from these sensors.
There are two sensors in wemo-sat:
Communications System

Telemetry system of wemo-sat is made up of transmitter Real Satellites have multiple antennas to transmit variety
module. of data such as its own attitude, weather data, astronomy
Transmitter module used in wemo-sat is in-built in our data, telecommunication, etc. to earth.
controller, NodeMCU.
Power Supply

Power supply provides power to all other subsystems of Actual Satellites also use lithium batteries that get
wemo-sat. charged using solar panels
Power supply used in wemo-sat is a 3.7 volt lithium Ion
battery.
