THEY CAN BE USED FOR.
• MOST PEOPLE KNOW THAT THEY CAN TYPE A PAPER, CREATE A
POWER POINT AND IF YOU HAVE INTERNET ACCESS, YOU MAY E-
MAIL AND SEARCH THE WORLD WIDE WEB FOR INFORMATION.

• WHEN YOU ARE INFORMATION LITERATE, YOU UNDERSTAND AND


ARE ABLE TO GATHER, ANALYZE AND USE INFORMATION GATHERED
FROM THE VARIOUS TYPES OF TECHNOLOGICAL MEDIANS –
ESPECIALLY THE INTERNET.
• THIS PERSON MAY ACCESS THE INTERNET.
• E.G. ON THEIR CELL PHONE, IPOD, LAPTOPS, SOME WHICH MAY HAVE
NOT YET BEEN REALIZED.
INTEGRATION LITERACY

• INTEGRATION LITERACY IS WHEN A PERSON IS ABLE TO INTEGRATE


TECHNOLOGY INTO AREAS WHERE IT WAS EITHER NOT USED OR NOT WIDELY
USED BEFORE.
• FOR THE MOST PART, INTEGRATION LITERACY IS REFERRING TO THE 21ST
CENTURY TEACHER. THESE TEACHERS MUST INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGY INTO
THEIR LESSON PLANS.
• THROUGH THIS INTEGRATION, THEY ARE PREPARING STUDENTS FOR A CAREER
IN A FIELD THAT MAY OR MAY NOT EXIST AT THIS TIME.
• EDUCATORS ARE PREPARING THE STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE – “TO BOLDLY
GO” WHERE WE DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE YET. WE DO KNOW THAT
TECHNOLOGY WILL PLAY A LARGE ROLE IN THE FUTURE.
DIFFERENCE
• COMPUTER LITERACY IS KNOWING HOW TO USE COMPUTERS IN A PROPER
FASHION. INFORMATION LITERACY DEALS WITH HAVING THE ABILITY TO FIND
AND ORGANIZE INFORMATION. BOTH OF THE ABOVE MENTION LITERACY'S ARE
USEFUL WHEN A PERSON WANTS A SPECIFIC ANSWER TO EITHER A QUESTION OF
A PROBLEM THAT MAY HAVE OCCURRED.
• THE LITERACY OF THE 21ST CENTURY WILL LIKELY BE DEFINED AS READING AN
ARTICLES THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET. BEFORE THE INTERNET,
LITERATURE COULD ONLY BE OBTAINED BY NEWSPAPERS, BOOKS AND
ENCYCLOPEDIAS. NOW WITH THE ARRIVAL OF THE INTERNET AND IT'S BASIC
USE BECOMING ESSENTIAL TO EVERYDAY LIFE, IT HAS REPLACED THE
TEXTBOOK AS WHAT IS MODERN LITERATURE.

DAY THERE WILL BE A DEVICE THAT DIRECTLY RELATES THOUGHTS INTO
PUBLISHED WORKS.
• THE WORLD TRULY IS BECOMING MORE CONNECTED AND ONE DAY A PERSON ON
ONE CONTINENT WILL BE ABLE TO CONVERSE WITH A PERSON ON ANOTHER
CONTINENT, WITHOUT PICKING UP A PHONE OR EVEN SITTING IN FRONT OF A
COMPUTER.
• TECHNOLOGY IS AN EVER CHANGING BUSINESS, SO THE LITERACY OF THE 21ST
CENTURY WILL FOLLOW WHATEVER INNOVATIVE TRENDS BECOME POPULAR
AND LUCRATIVE.
• COMPUTER (OR DIGITAL) LITERACY REFERS TO A PERSON'S ABILITY TO USE
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEVICES AND SOFTWARE. IF A PERSON IS GOOD WITH
EMAILS, LEARNS NEW SOFTWARE EASILY, AND CAN NAVIGATE THEIR WAY
THROUGH A VARIETY OF OPERATING SYSTEMS, THEY WOULD BE COMPUTER
LITERATE.
• INFORMATION LITERACY REFERS TO A PERSON'S ABILITY TO FIND AND CRITICALLY
EVALUATE RESOURCES TO FIND QUALITY INFORMATION. IF YOU ARE COMPETENT
AT FINDING CREDIBLE WEBSITES, KNOW HOW TO SPOT AND AVOID FAKE NEWS,
AND TEND TO FOLLOW UP CLAIMS PRESENTED IN NEWS STORIES BEFORE GETTING
ALL RILED UP, THEN YOU WOULD BE CONSIDERED INFORMATION LITERATE.
