Indian Textiles have a long history that dates back to the Indus Valley
Civilization. The first cotton textile was manufactured in the city of
Taxila in the Punjab region of Pakistan, where the cotton was grown.
Cotton was used for making clothes and accessories such as turbans
and shawls. In India, woolen fabrics were used to make clothes,
blankets and carpets.
The word "textile" comes from the Latin word textilis, which means
woven. The most ancient forms of Indian textiles were made from
natural fibers such as silk, wool and cotton; these were produced
through hand-processing techniques such as weaving and knotting.
Cotton was introduced by Arab traders during the 10th century AD
