COP- 26 What does that mean?

For almost three decades, world leaders

have met nearly every year to forge a global
response to the climate emergency.
Since 1992 every country on Earth has
made a promise through the United Nations
to “avoid dangerous climate change”, and
find ways to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions globally in an equitable (fair) way.
COP stands for conference of the parties
who meet to discuss how to tackle this
environmental issue.
This year was the 26th COP meeting and
was hosted by the UK in Glasgow.

Climate change around the world
In this series of short films for secondary schools, Ade Adepitan
travels to places on the frontline of climate change to see the damage
caused and how we can fight it.

Ade scours the globe for the natural and technological fixes that can
help us slow climate change and adapt to the changes already taking
place.
What are your thoughts on climate change?
If you were asked to speak at a conference about why we should save the
planet, what would you say about climate change and the role that
young people might have in saving our world?

Things to consider…
• Where have humans been going wrong?
• What impact has human activity had on the planet?
• What is the future for our world if we don’t make changes?
• What changes do we need to be making?
• How are you going to make people change their way of living? What
will you do to make a difference?
