 KEYBOARD
◦ An input device used to enter words or functions by
pressing keys.
◦ Used with computer and laptop.
◦ There are three main types of keyboard:
1. Qwerty keyboard
2. Qwertz keyboard
3. Azerty keyboard
 Main keys
◦ There are main six type of keys:
◦ Alphanumeric keys
◦ Numeric keys
◦ Function keys
◦ Modifier keys
◦ Cursor movement keys
◦ Special keys
Alphanumeris keys
◦ Used to enter letters,numbers and some symbols.
Numeric keys
◦ Used to enter numbers and have some control funtions.
Function keys
◦ Used to perform specific tasks.
Modifier keys
◦ Used to enter commands.These are shift,ctrl,Alt,windows key.
Cursor keys
◦ Move cursor left,right,up,down.
Special keys
◦ These keys provides shortcut for some tasks like Alt, Fn,etc.
Other keys
◦ These are enter key,app key,etc.
 Mouse
◦ It is used to input data by sending a signal to the computer based on
moving cursor and pressing the button.
◦ It may be with wire or wirless or trackpad.
◦ There are three variants of mouse:
1. Trackballs
2. Track pads
3. Integrated pointed devices
Trackballs
◦ A trackball is like a mouse turned upside-down.
◦ Use your thumb to move the exposed ball and your fingers to press
the buttons.
Trackpads
◦ A trackpad is a touch sensitive pad and same as mouse.
◦ To use it,you glide your across its surface.
Integrated pointing devices
◦ An integrated pointing device is a small joystick built in keyboard.
◦ To use it, you move the joystick.
 Functions of Mouse
Pointer movement
◦ Moving the mouse controls the on screen pointer.
Left click
◦ Items are selected or activated by left click.
Right click
◦ Right click to access context menus and additional options related to
the selected items.
Double click
◦ Double click the left mouse button to quickly open files and folders.
Scroll wheel
◦ It is used to scroll through windows,web pages or lists.
Drag and drop
◦ Click and hold the left mouse button on an item, drag it to a new
location,and release the button to drop it.
