What is panel discussion?

A panel discussion is a public exchange of ideas among members of a group


people, called panel who have gathered to talk about a topic of interest.

A panel usually consist of experts who can share their own knowledge,
expertise, and experiences so that the audience and fellow panel members are
better informed about the subject matter.

● Research thoroughly on the topic find the latest trends and developments
regarding the topic to be better equipped to talk about it. Also, anticipate
possible questions that could be raised during the panel discussion and
prepare for them beforehand.

● Stick to the topic. Panelist can get carried away by what they are saying
and often deviate from the actual topic. Make a conscious effort not to go
off topic so that the whole discussion moves smoothly.

● Build on and react to what other panelist say. A good panelist does not
speak, but he or she also listens to what the other panelist say. If a co-
panelist says something that motivates you to add more information,
contradict, or react, then do so.

● Observe politeness, respect, and professionalism.

● Do not dominate the discussion. Keep in mind that there are other people
in the panel who have also something to share.
