Mounting CBA to Pedestal

1. The pedestal and bearing housing saddles should be

clean, dry, and free from oil or grease
2. Ensure the adjusting screw is aligned with the slot in
the pedestal

3. The bearing housing hold down bolts should now be
installed, but should remain slightly loose until the axial
adjustment of the bearing housing is complete

1. What is Nose Gap?

2. Effect to a loss of head,
a loss of efficiency
 consumes more power,

increases NPSHR
and wear

29 LSA Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Setting Nose Gap

1. Nose gap adjustment is critical  Should be close to zero

without touching  Operating conditions such as hydraulic
axial force, shaft deflection, and thermal expansion
require a minimum initial clearance

2. Routine re-adjustment
3. KSB GIW pumps have different impeller designs but the
adjustment method is basically the same.
