Leveraging the capabilities of the Internet of

Things (IoT), our hand gesture-controlled
drone stands out as exceptionally user-friendly
Mentored by: RIJIT MAZUMDAR
and accessible.
Introduction
Our group Sky High Drone is a group of three members, and this group belongs to National English
School.
Saksham Roy, Sayan Samanta and Deeptanshu Chandra are the members of this group and
developers of the hand gesture drone. Our drone is not bought from any online or offline services
and is completely build by the team Sky High Drone. The use of drones has become increasingly
popular in recent years for various applications. One of the limitations of drones is the need for
manual control through remote controllers, which can be challenging for inexperienced users.
Gesture- controlled drones have emerged as a potential solution to this limitation.Controlling
the drone with the mobile application also serves as an easy way accessing and controlling
drone. This drone is not only unique and effective ,but it also has a number of advantages and future
aspects which can prove profitable for humans. Our project opens the doors of making such a useful
device which would easy to control and may serve as a potential solution for various applications,
including aerial photography, surveillance, and search operations.
3D Design and
Printing:

The drone's design was meticulously crafted using Tinker CAD, an open-source platform, and
subsequently produced through the utilization of a 3D printer. The distinctive hexagon
structure of the drone not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also contributes to its cost-
effectiveness. (Post Processing for 3D Printing using Ulti maker CURA Software has been done).

The components used in this project are :-

1)Propellers (Clockwise and Counterclockwise)

2)Coreless Drone Motor (of 10000 rpm)
3)Flight-controller PAN2025850X
4)Electrical accessories (Switches, wires, etc.)
5)Charging-module-TP4056
6)Zyroscope-MPU6050 7)Arduino-Nano board
8)Lithium-ion battery (3.7V and 600mAh)
How it works? (Demonstration)

To fly, the quadrocopter uses a complex system of sensors, control algorithms, and electronic
components that work together to maintain stability and control its movement. The 4 drone
motors along with the propellers, generate the lift. To generate lift, the lever or joystick comes
into work and commands the drone to generate upthrust .The circuit, built over a perf-
board(barrow-board), which is pasted on the hand-glove, contains a gyroscope. This
gyroscope detects the velocity of our hand and sends signals to the flight- controller of
drone. This circuit is pasted to a hand glove so that we can control it with the hand gestures.
When gyroscope communicates with the drone’s flight-controller the flight-controller instructs
and allows the drone to fly according to the hand gestures. By changing the speed of rotors, the
drone can be moved forward, backward, and side- to-side.
 If all four propellors run at normal speed, then the drone will move down x If all four
propellors run at a higher speed, then the drone will move up. This
is called the hovering of a drone.
 Pitch: movement of a drone about a lateral axis (either forward or backward) is called
pitching motion.
 If two rear propellors run at high speed, then the drone will move in a forward
direction.
 If two front propellors run at high speed, then the drone will move in the backward
direction.
 Roll: movement of a drone about the longitudinal axis is called rolling motion.
 If two right propellors run at high speed, then the drone will move in the left direction.
 If two left propellors run at high speed, then the drone will move in the right direction.
 Yaw: the rotation of the head of the drone about the vertical axis (either the left or right) is
called Yawing motion.
 If two propellors of a right diagonal run at high speed, then the drone will rotate in an anti-
clockwise direction.
 If two propellors of a left diagonal run at high speed, then the drone will rotate in a
clockwise direction.
Future scope and
Improvements

Fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides are important as well as common factor in farming.
Now a days, in the modern and digital era,the most common technique to spray such
chemicals over the fields is the use of large RC-Drones and Quadra copters. But, practically they are
expensive. Moreover, a trained pilot is required to operate such devices.Even, fingers are quite
unstable and usually move and vibrate, sometimes ,even against our will or by mistake.Where as,
if we have a look over the hand gesture drone, they are cheap as well as easy to control and not
require professional pilots. Our back portion of hand ,unlike our fingers, doesn’t move randomly or
accidently, thus reducing the chance of a crash or accident. Our drone can be used for various
purposes, such as spying, surveillance, spraying fertilizers, telecasting live videos in sports, etc.
The drone made by us is just a prototype, it can be improved if greater capital is invested in
it.For example, we can add a camera module in it, which will be able to telecast live pictures
and videos and we will be able to view them on
applications from our cellphones or tablets. The body of the drone can be made even bigger and

Refren
thus can be used for inter-city transportation of essentials, such as medicines. Or it can be made
even smaller for purposes like flying.

In aces
study by Khan et al. (2020), a gesture-
controlled drone was developed using a
Raspberry Pi and a camera module. The
drone was controlled using hand
gestures recognized by the camera,
enabling users to control the drone's
movements. The study concluded that the
use of hand gestures provided an intuitive
way of controlling drones, and the system
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this IOT enabled hand gesture drone is a creation of team Sky-High-Drone which
is completed with the use of various electronic components including sensors, motors
and other accessories. The flight-controller PAN2025850X, Arduino-nano and the Gyroscope-
MPU6050 played a major role in establishing communication between the drone and the
remote. This project is not only unique ,but efficient and easy to control as well. It has a number of
advantages and future prospects .This prototype is just the first phase of the journey towards
the world of gesture controlling IOT enabled devices. If greater capital is invested in this
prototype then it can be used in even more fields for various purposes. This stable and efficient
drone can be used for various purposes such as surveillance, spying ,transport of medicines and
accessories,spraying of fertilizers
,etc. Thus, this project can be used in various fields and occupations for numerous purposes and can
help the humans in multiple ways.
