ABORTION
• refers to the expulsion of a living fetus from a mother’s womb
before it is viable
• accdg to DR. ANDRE E. HELLEGERS, it is defined as the
termination of pregnancy, spontaneously or by induction,
befoe viability.
TYPES OF ABORTION
1. NATURAL ABORTION, SPONTANEOUS OR ACCIDENTAL or
MISCARRIAGE
2. DIRECT OR INTENTIONAL ABORTION
3. THERAPEUTIC ABORTION
4. EUGENIC ABORTION
5. INDIRECT ABORTION

1. If phenomenon of ensoulment occurs from the moment of
conception, hence to exper or abort is to commit murder, but
if not, then eugenic abortiol as well abortion before
implantation may be morally licit
2. IMMEDIATE HOMINIZATION
• a new human person exists immediately upon conception,
that the soul enters at conception, Greek Philo Plato, St
Gregory of Nysa (PLATONIC and GREGORIAN view)
3. DELAYED ANIMATION
• ensoulment occurs at a later time after the moment of conception
• Aristotle, the Stagerite and Peripatetic thinker, ensoulment at the
4oth day for males, and 80th day for females
