Introduction
• School violence and bullying are social problems within school environments and
impede children and adolescents from the basic right to education in safe learning
environments Bullying is one of the most serious problems that has become
widespread in modern societies. It happens everywhere, such as at home, school, or
social events and victims experience emotional distress decreased self estem and
long lasting psychological scars
• This requires more attention from families and sectors of education, health,
and social services.
Epidemiology
• Half of the world’s students aged 13-15 say they have experienced violence in and
around school.
• Nearly one in three students of this age say they have experienced bullying or been
involved in fights.
• More than 700 million children have no legal protection from corporal punishment at
school. IN Egypt About 60% of female students were victims versus 39% in males,
while males experienced other bullying behaviors . Physical and verbal bullying
reached 53.1% , while cyberbullying was 23.2% and sexual bullying 12.1%.
Definition
• Bullying is a form of violence. It can be defined as unwanted,
aggressive behaviour which involves a real or perceived
imbalance of power. It is behaviour that is repeated, or
carries the threat of being repeated over time

• Religious bullying
• The presence of a school nurse every day, all day during school hours
enables student access to a trusted adult with whom students can share
concerns about bullying. For students who do not disclose bullying,
school nurses provide specialized expertise in assessment, screening,
surveillance, and monitoring to identify students who may show
physical or emotional signs and symptoms indicative of involvement in
bullying.
Educational and Prevention programs
• Nurses have the role to provide comprehensive nursing care from biological,
psychological, sociological, and spiritual aspects. One of the roles of community
nurses in the mental health aspect is school nurses who provide comprehensive
school nursing care to improve the health of students and school employees
including physical and psychological health. The role of nurses as educators to
increase knowledge of bullying on students and increase student awareness of
bullying incidents. Nurses also have a role as advocates to collaborate with
teachers
Physical activity program
Physical activity carried out together can increase a sense of
concern for friends, so as to prevent bullying from happening to
students.
Nurses collaborate with physical activity therapists to evaluate the
results of activity therapy performed by students.
Nurses have a role in monitoring and evaluating physical activity
therapy.
