COLORS FROM NATURE


Objectives:
- Identify the color we from nature.
- Create an artwork using color from nature.
Plants are important things. They make
our surroundings beautiful. They are
also important source of food and
medicine.
Plants are useful in art, too. You can get colors from
flowers, leaves, and fruits. You can also produce
colors from roots, seeds, and bark of trees. For
example, you can boil the bark of tree to produce a
brown color.
• Other parts of the plant like twig or stem can even
be used as a paintbrush.
Would you like to try getting colors from
plants? Here is one way to do it.
1. Gather some flowers like red gumamela and yellow bell.

2. Crush the petals with your fingers and squeeze the juice out of it.
This artwork was painted using colors from
nature.

• Color can come from nature, like plants.
• One way of getting color from plants is by crushing and squeezing the
juice from petals and leaves.
• You can also boil the bark of a tree to get a brown color.
• A good source of green color are leaves.
• Twig or stem can be made into a brush.
