Game Writer Roleplayers Responses
Method
• Preparation Phase: • Execution Phase:
• Explanation of Methodology • Get Scenario • World Building • Writers put response prediction • Character Creation • Role-players roleplay • Scenario Creation • Actual Response Marked • Character Embodiment Method Limitations
• Following Guideline exactly is difficult to achieve
• Tested outside of actual game development • Difficult to fully utilize in extremely small teams, and impossible in solo • Not everybody is a professional actor Pilot Test Basic Information: • 4 Participants • All game designers • They are all familiar with eachother • 3 Hour Duration • Added features to Scenarios later Positive Observations
• Participants found it entertaining
• They found it useful to learn and engage with the character ideas • Provided a unified concept of the character and better understanding of the world • Role-players enjoyed the task, and participation in the actual response Negative Observations
• Initial use of percentages is bad
• Mechanics/Dice received negatively • Seperation required between role-players and writers • Responses need to be private to not influence others Neutral Observations
• Sequenced Scenarios / Narrative based better then
random, but could work • Perception of characters changed as it went on • Writers could work seperate or not • More time for the overall test • Familiarity highly important for this methodology OVERALL AND FUTURE
