INTRODUCTION:
• For any organization to be effective needs 5 M's.
• Staff is the key to the development and success of
organization.
• In nursing organization one of the important duties of
nursing managers is staff development for improving the
quality of nursing care.
• Staff development is the process directed towards the
personal and professional growth of the nurses and other
professional while they are employed by a health care
agency.
TYPES OF STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
1. Induction training.
2. Job orientation.
3. In - service education.
4. Continuing education.

Among them we are going to discuss in service education(nature and


it's scope).
In service training in nursing is seen as a necessary component to help
the professional nurse to keep up to date on the most recent
developments in nursing and to be able to manage the demands of
nursing practice.
DEFINITION:
Plnned educational experience provided on the job setting
and closely identified with service in order to help a
person perform more effectively.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF IN - SERVICE EDUCATION:
 The in-service training programme is important for all
professionals who are in service so the professionals
should participate in these training to act as an active
professional.
 Nature of this program should be based upon learning
and training according to the latest modification in
curriculum design for the specific class.
 This programme includes the knowledge about various
administrative procedures and systems required during
the professional practice.
 In-Service programme updates the knowledge time to
time and is planned to motivate the professionals to act
ideally as professional counsellors and career guide.As
the professional growth depends upon the working
knowledge and interest of the professionals.

 Maintenance and familiarity with new knowledge and


subject matter.

 Increased skill in providing care.

 Improved attitudes and skills.


 Greater skills in utilizing community resources and in
working with adults.

 Development and refinement of common values and


goals.

 Improve ones competency in life.
