I. General formats
- The FCE Reading test includes 7 sections with total 52 questions &
takes 75 minutes

- The “Reading” and “Use of English” sections are combined into one
exam paper. This means you will only have around 10 minutes to
answer all the questions in each part.

- If you want to achieve level B2, for Reading you must score minimum
of 24 points and over 28 points in Use of English test.

- Length of texts: about 2,200 words to read in total. Texts may be


from newspapers & magazines, journals, books (fiction & non-fiction),
promotional and informational material.

III. How to score Reading & Use of English
1.READING
skills in FCE
The exam paper has seven parts and for the
reading portion we have to look just at parts 1,
5, 6 and 7.

• Reading counts 20% toward your overall


result.
• For parts 1 and 7, you get 1 mark and for
parts 5 and 6, you get 2 mark for each
correct answer.
• There is a total of 42 possible marks in this
part.
2. USE OF ENGLISH
You will calculate your score for Use of English
from parts 2, 3 and 4.

Use of English counts 20% toward your overall


result.

For parts 2 and 3, you get 1 mark and for part 4,


you get up to 2 marks for each correct answer

There is a total of 28 possible marks in this part.
