 What is template and why
is it important ?

• A Revit project template is Revit file type RTE.

• Graphical representation , for standardize project organization.
• To begin new projects or files
Template files provide a reliable way to begin each new project file
and ensure that it starts with the right collection of settings, features,
and office standards.

• It is BIM Coordinators goal to begin a new project with a well-

thought template. It ensures that each new project starts off on the

Template ..? • With a good template, you can save a lot of your and your project
team time. On the other hand, it might take a lot of time to create a
good one.

What is the difference between Revit template and project file
?
• RTE (template) file and RVT (project ) file
• The difference between the two is that the template is used to start a new project.

What kind of things we can set up in the templates?

• standard annotation, what kind of fill patterns, text, tags, and symbols we
want to use. We can define different project settings, units, and project
information.
 How to set a project template ?
• Any new projects shall get started with standard BIM Template. The BIM Template will be
controlled by the BIM Manager.

• You can you some standard name with year :- “SAA_Template_2020” standard template for
architectural building project, where YYYY is version, e.g. 2020.
How to set a standardize template ?

 Why we are using view templates ?

• It is important to revert back the view template before export and printing in any instance the
BIM user needs to define the template as none required for editing the view.

• Duplicate WIP views on the project browser in the event BIM user need to create specific view
preference setting with modelling

• Visibility of items inside link models can also be controlled by customizing by linked view or by
custom setting.

• Visibility overrides are not limited to 2d views but also can be used in 3d views.

• View filters modify graphics and visibility parameters of any elements for presentation or for
checking as required.
 What are the problem we faced in NIA project ?

• No standard set in project templates.

• No one use that template in any other use because everybody using
their own template.
• Too much wastage of time because everybody make template by
there name so for every person it takes time to make different
different template.
• No standard set in view templates , no scale , no proper graphical
representation.
