NOTICE WRITING

What is a notice?
 A notice is a written announcement.
 It is written in order to inform a large number of people about
something that has happened or is about to happen.
 It could be an upcoming event, competition, lost and found notice
or just a piece of information to be delivered to the targeted
audience.
 Notices are factual and to-the-point. The language used is simple
and formal.
What should a notice include?
 Name of the issuing agency (school, organization etc)
 Date of issue (Eg:-18 March 2024)
 Title/Subject of the Event (what?)
 Body-Date/Time/Duration/Place/Venue (5 Ws)
 Authorized signatory: Name and signature (contact details)
Format…
Do not forget!
 Do not cross the word limit. (50 words shouldn’t be crossed)
 Always enclose the notice in a box and drawn neatly with a pencil.
Your notice should include answers to all the 5 W’s – What, Why,
When, Where and Who.
 Always write in the third person pronouns.
Time for an example!
You are Asma/Ashish, the head girl/boy of Manav Rachna International School. Your school is soon going to publish the annual magazine next month. Write a notice for the notice board of your school inviting students to submit
write-ups.

This is to inform all the students that the school is going to publish its annual magazine next month. All those

April 25,2024. Varied topics of personal interest can be picked up for the write-ups. For further information,
respective class teachers may be contacted.
