ABSTRACT
• This work is about a smart system that combines solar and wind power to
give a constant supply of electricity. It's like having a reliable source of
energy all the time, even when the weather changes. This work generates
and stores extra energy, so it's there when we need it.
• This system is made to be simple and easy to use, whether for homes or
small setups. Beyond just being practical, our project also helps people
learn about using clean energy from the sun and wind. It's a small step
towards a future where we have reliable and eco-friendly electricity for
everyone.
Introduction
• The main aim of this work is to use solar and wind energy for
household loads using an inverter. This energy is stored in batteries
during day time for the utilization purpose whenever required.
• This inverter converts the direct current (DC) output of a photovoltaic
solar panel and wind energy into a utility frequency alternating current
(AC) that can be fed into a commercial electrical grid or used by a
local, off-line electrical network.

NEED FOR PRESENT WORK

• The reliability and stability of the power supply is improved by reducing

the fluctuations and intermittency of solar and wind power.
• The land use and environmental impact can be reduced by sharing the
same infrastructure and site for both solar and wind components.
• Employment and income opportunities for the local communities can be
offered by involving them in the installation, operation, and maintenance
of the hybrid system.
• The energy security and independence of the country can be enhanced by
reducing the dependence on imported fossil fuels and diversifying the
energy.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

To develop a system that can use both solar and wind power
together, so we get power even when the sun isn't shining or
the wind isn't blowing.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of Inverter system using solar and wind are,
1. Maximizing Energy Harvesting: To efficiently capture and utilize energy from
both solar and wind sources, optimizing power generation under varying conditions.
2. Cost Optimization: Achieving a balance between cost-effectiveness and system
performance, considering factors such as installation, maintenance, and overall
operational expenses.
3. Environmental Sustainability: Contributing to reduced carbon footprint and
environmental impact by promoting the use of clean, renewable energy sources.
4. Cutting Electricity Bills: Strive to reduce electricity costs by generating power
from free and abundant renewable sources.
5. Green Energy Adoption: Encourage the adoption of eco-friendly energy solutions
to reduce environmental impact.
6. Backup Power: Provide a backup power source during grid outages, enhancing
energy security for users.

WORKING
• Solar panels and wind turbines capture solar and wind energy
respectively and convert them into direct current (DC) electricity.
• A charge controller regulates the flow of electricity from both sources
and prevents overcharging or discharging of the battery.
• A battery stores the DC electricity for later use or when the renewable
sources are not available.
• An inverter converts the DC electricity from the battery into alternating
current (AC) electricity, which can be used by standard electrical
appliances (Load).

1. SOLAR PANEL:-

A solar panel is a device that converts sunlight into

electricity by using the photovoltaic (PV) cells, which are
made of materials that produce excited electrons when
exposed to light.
The electrons flow through a circuit and produce direct
current (DC) electricity, which can be used to power
various devices or be stored in batteries.

Ratings
Voltage 12v
Max current 100mA
2. 12V BATTERY:-

A 12V sealed lead acid battery is a type of rechargeable

battery that uses lead and sulfuric acid as the main
components.
It consists of six cells connected in series, each with a
nominal voltage of 2.1V.

Ratings :
Voltage -12 to 12.5v
Capacity-1.3Ah
Maximun charging current - 0.39A
Charging voltage range - 11.5v to 14.9v
3. DYNAMO MOTOR:-

• A DC dynamo motor is a device that can work as both a DC

generator and a DC motor. A DC generator converts mechanical
energy into electrical energy by using electromagnetic induction,
• A DC dynamo motor consists of a coil of wire that rotates in a
magnetic field, a commutator that reverses the current direction
every half turn, and two brushes that connect the coil to an external
circuit. When the coil is rotated, it generates a direct current that
can be used to power devices or charge batteries.

RATINGS
Voltage 12v DC
HP 15W
Speed 1000-1200 rpm
4. CHARGE CONTROLLER CKT BOARD:-

A battery charge controller circuit is a device that regulates

the voltage and current supplied to a battery to ensure
optimal charging and prevent overcharging or
undercharging.
A common way to design a battery charge controller circuit
is to use an LM317 adjustable voltage regulator IC, which
can provide a constant output voltage according to the
battery specifications.
5. Load (LED Bulb):-

• A simple 220V LED bulb is a type of light source that uses

light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to produce light from an
alternating current (AC) supply. LEDs are semiconductor
devices that emit light when an electric current flows
through them.
• A 220V LED bulb consists of the following components:
 Capacitors
 Bridge Rectifier
 Resistor
 Diode
 Series of LEDs.
6. INVERTER CIRCUIT BOARD :-

An inverter circuit with a transformer and 2 transistor is a

simple way to convert a low voltage DC input to a high
voltage AC output.
The basic principle is to use the 2 transistor as a switch
that alternately connects and disconnects the primary
winding of the transformer to the DC input.
The transformer then steps up the voltage across its
secondary winding, which is connected to the AC output.
The switching frequency of the 2 transistor determines
the output frequency of the AC waveform.

ADVANTAGES
Some advantages of a hybrid solar and wind inverter are:
• It can provide continuous and reliable power supply, even when the grid
fails or the weather conditions are unfavorable for solar or wind
generation.
• It can utilize the renewable energy sources in the best way, by storing the
surplus energy on sunny or windy days and using it on cloudy or calm
days.
• It can reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and lower the greenhouse gas
emissions and environmental impact of electricity generation.
• It can lower the electricity bills and increase the energy security and
independence of the users.
DISADVANTAGES
Some disadvantages of a hybrid solar and wind inverter are:
• It can be expensive to install and maintain, due to the additional cost of
batteries and advanced inverter systems.
• It can have a complicated controlling process, as it requires the
coordination and integration of different energy sources and components.
• It can have a limited battery life and capacity, which can affect the
performance and efficiency of the system over time.
• It can face technical challenges and regulatory barriers, such as grid
connection, power quality, safety, and standards.
