Man:

God’s Steward
Stewardship is the management
of that which
belongs to another.

A person may be a good steward or

a bad steward, faithful or unfaithful;
he becomes steward at birth and
remains one until his death.
The steward is
accountable to
God for the
management of
all the things
with which he
has been
entrusted.
Man was created a practical
person for a practical job for
a practical reason—God
needed him.

The earth, in all its beauty,

had just come from the hand
of the Creator ; God needed
someone to manage it.
God had several choices:
He could have made man a
robot or he could have made
man a slave.

 But the creator chose to

make man a free moral
agent with the power to
choose, to make decisions,
to act from loyalty and love.

Stewardship
is a
RELATIONSHIP
Man was created a steward.
It was the full intention of
God that man would have
far reaching responsibilities
and privileges.

There was to be an
intimate sharing
between God the owner
and man the steward.
Stewardship
is
DOMINION
“And God said, Let us
make man in our image,
after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and
over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and
over all the earth, and
over every creeping thing
that creepeth upon the
earth.” -Genesis 1:26
Dominion means authority, power,
supremacy, control, jurisdiction,
responsibility, or management.

 It means management of those

things belonging to someone else.
The persons having this
responsibility is a steward.

 He acts in the place of

the owner.
 Man was given the freedom to
chose, to act, to carry out the
Divine plan for this world.

 Man did not own the world, nor

anything in it instead he was to
be responsible to manage it for
God.
Stewardship
has
RESTRICTIONS
To remind man
of this, God
placed one tree
as a restriction.
This tree was a
symbol of God’s
authority.
Stewardship
requires
FAITHFULNESS
“Moreover it is required in
stewards that a man be
found faithful.”
1 Corinthians 4:2
Stewardship
removes
WORRY
If a person considered
himself a steward of
God, then he would be
under divine direction
and control.

He could rest
assured that
whatever
transpired would
be for his best
interest and good.
Freedom from worry and
concern was to be one
of the benefits of man’s
recognition of his
stewardship relation to God.

As long as he recognized
God’s ownership, His
sovereignty, His
authority, he would be
provided with everything
for his needs and desires.
Adam and Eve had no
food, clothing, housing,
or labor problems.
Stewardship

BRINGS RUIN
Notice: When
Adam and Eve
took the fruit of
the forbidden
tree, they denied
God’s ownership,
they ended their
relationship.
There were long range effects of this act:

1. No longer could they

talk face to face with
God.
2. Their relationship
was broken.
3. They immediately
sensed their need of
clothing;
There were long range effects of this act:

4. They were
dispossessed from
their home.
5. Their privileges were
lost and they were
forced to obtain their
living by the sweat of
their brows.
Stewardship
means
DEPENDENCE
There is only one
alternate to being
a steward of God.
That is being a
slave to the devil.

The devil promised

the freedom of
independence.
God promises the
freedom of
dependence.
The person who
recognizes, and accepts
his stewardship
relationship to God can
be assured that his basic
requirements for living
will be provided.

Jesus said, “Do not

worry about life… Your
heavenly father feeds
them.” Matthew 6:25, 26
“If ye then, being
evil, know how to
give good gifts
unto your children,
how much more
shall your father
which is in heaven
give good things to
them that ask him.”
Matthew 7:11
Life tenancy…
through the
ceaseless ages of
eternity.

This is the ultimate

reward for those who
are faithful stewards.
3 Condition of Stewardship
1. The close
identification of the
steward with his
master.
2. The steward is not the
owner or master.
3. The term steward
connotes a
relationship of
royalty.
(Isaiah 22:15-21)
Attributes to be SEEN in the
TRUE STEWARD’S Life:

1. Humbleness of Spirit
2. Lack of pretension and
ostentation
3. Parental behavior
toward those for whose
welfare the steward has
responsibility
