OVARIAN AGENESIS

• Congenital absence of ovaries


• Most patients with agenesis are asymptomatic
• Affects 1 in 11000 women.

SUPERNUMARY OVARIES
• In this another ovary in the female reproductive system and
is situated separately from the other two ovaries.
• The third ovary develops with no connection to the uterus
and ovarian ligament
LOBULATED OVARY
• Amongst all the disorders, the lobulated ovary is the only
entity of the morphological abnormality of the nomotopic
ovarian tissue.
• Each lobule in our present case was morphologically similar
to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) rather than a normal
ovary.
TERATOMA & DIFFERENTIATION
• Adrenal or thyroid tissue nay be present in the ovary.

• Sometimes ovary contain cells that are capable of


differentiating into various tissues such as hair, bone,
cartilage.

• Growth of these cells can give rise to peculiar tumor called a


teratoma
ECTOPIC OVARY
It describes any ovarian tissue additional to the normal ovaries in any abnormal position.
Note the difference:
HERMAPHRODITISM
Rare cases in which a combination of gonadal tissue is present.
