Worden Gravimeter
 Principle and construction details
 This gravimeter is housed in a thermos flask for
temperature stability. It is also evacuated to eliminate
errors due to barometric pressure.

 It weighs 3kg and the suspended mass weighs 5mg.

Vertical movement of the mass causes a rotation of a
beam, and equilibrium is restored by increasing the
tension of the torsion fibres.

 The least count is 0.01 milligal. It is available in two

models. Prospector and geodetic models. The
prospector model has 60 milligals and geodetic model
has 5500 milligals.
La-coste-romburg Unstable Gravimeter
Principle

This gravimeter consists of in hinged beam,

carrying a mass, supported by a spring attached
immediately above the hinge.

A zero length spring can be used where tension

in the spring is proportional to the actual length
of the spring.

The least count is 0.01 milligal. It less sensitive

to horizontal vibration. It requires a constant
temperature environment.
CG-5 Autograv
Principle

It is an electronic gravimeter. CG-5 gravimeter

uses a mass supported by a spring. The position
of the mass is kept fixed using two capacitors.

The deviation used to keep the mass fixed is

proportional to the gravity.
