Module 3: SecureLink FAQs
What is it ?
Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE V_1.1 is a utility that provides a connection between the MIM
and the service laptop through a secure encrypted tunnel. A server component is resident on the
MIM V_6.1 application software, and a client component will be loaded on the SERVICE
LAPTOP. A valid renewable digital certificate is required to complete the connection.
Why is it needed ?
Worldwide there are many security regulations being put in place to limit and monitor who has
access to computer data, including Protected Health Information (PHI). By requiring a digital
certificate to gain access to the MIM computer we help the customer keep their data secure while
also ensuring their service provider is trained and qualified to work on the MIM.
Module 3
Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE FAQs
Yes. Major changes when compared to version 5.2 and below. There is a new Kodak SecureLink
SOFTWARE login required to access the MIM, and other limitations are described later in this
section. Service access has small improvements going from MIM version 6.0 to 6.1.
How do I get Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE and a digital certificate for my LAPTOP
COMPUTER?
Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE V_1.1 is included on the MIM V_6.1 Service Application CD.
Once the software is installed, you can use it to generate a certificate request and install the digital
certificate.
Launch the program Kodak SecureLink 1.1.msi and follow the screen prompts to install.
When installation is complete, reboot the laptop and continue with requesting a digital
certificate.
Select Start>Programs>Kodak/SecureLink.
Launch the program Kodak SecureLink 1.1.msi and follow the screen prompts to install.
Making a
Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE Connection
Click [Connect].
The plug icon will flash, and turns green when a connection
is made. The button changes to [Disconnect].
When you are connecting the Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE over the network, make sure your
LAPTOP COMPUTER IP address is on the same subnet as the MIM.
There was a bug in Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE V_1.0b11 which caused some
remote connections to fail if the LAPTOP COMPUTER operating system used regional settings
other than English (US). Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE V_1.1 corrects that problem.
5 days before expiration you will receive an email with a new certificate.
Double-click the attachment to install the new certificate to your laptop.
For Kodak employees, the digital certificate allows you to access any V_6.0 or V_6.1 MIM. For
non-Kodak personnel, the certificate can limit their access to specific serial numbers.
If the date/time or time zone is wrong on the MIM, it might not match the date range on the digital
certificate and a Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE connection will not be made. Be sure the MIM
date/time and time zone are always set to the correct local values.
Questions should be directed to the Country Service Manager or Service Business Manager.
Authorized third-party service providers will be trained for a fee. Once trained the service provider
will be entered in to the HI SecureLink Xternal Database by the country Registration Authority
(RA).
The changes from V_6.0 to V_6.1 are minor bug fixes, not procedural changes.
The MIM V_6.1 Service Manual contains complete details for making
connections with different laptop operating systems.

Changes to the Modem Connection
The optional modem for new V_6.1 MIM 200 and MIM 100 will be an external
modem.
It is no longer necessary to choose between “Local” and “Remote” service access
from the keypad.
Powering up the MIM with the modem connected will set it for remote service.
Powering up the MIM without the modem connected sets it for local access.
You can use Dial-up Networking from your Microsoft Windows 98 OPERATING
SYSTEM LAPTOP COMPUTER to make a modem connection to a V_6.1 MIM.
Use:
– User Name: PLMIMService
– Password: NetServer

Click [OK].
Module 4
Changes to the Monitor Kit Connection
You are prompted to enter a Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE Session ID. This value is found at the
SecureLink connection window. The Session ID appears as 6 upper-case letters, but is not case-
sensitive.
Module 4
Changes to the Monitor Kit Connection
How do you make a Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE connection to a “broken” MIM when you
aren’t positive what the IP Address is and the keypad is down?
At the Windows 2000 Log On
screen use the diagnostic log in
Password: NetServer
Module 4
Changes to the pcANYWHERE SOFTWARE Connection
You need to add a new Remote Control Item in the pcANYWHERE SOFTWARE to make
MIM V_6.1 connections.
Once you reach the MIM desktop you still have to send a C-A-D and logon through
Microsoft Windows 2000 OPERATING SYSTEM.
Just like a monitor Logon, you will need a Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE Session ID to
access the desktop.
Module 4
Changes to the pcANYWHERE SOFTWARE Connection
To make login easier, create a separate 6.x MIM icon and customize the settings.
5) Select [OK]
Module 4
Other Useful Connection Information
If the MIM has an address conflict, the Microsoft Windows 2000 OPERATING
SYSTEM disables the network adapter. You must connect to the MIM using the
RAS Pool IP address.
With Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE V_1.1, the configured IP address for the
MIM is active even when disconnected from the network.
Service connections for MIM V_6.0 and V_6.1 using Kodak SecureLink
SOFTWARE are noticeably slower than previous MIM software versions.
The password was removed from the MIM V_6.0 and V_6.1 Service
Applications.

Module 5
HIS/RIS Enhancements (Setup)
MIM Service Application is used to configure the IP address, AE Title, and port number of the
BROKER. The three check boxes set options to let us work more reliably with some BROKERS that
interpret DICOM consistently.
Module 5
HIS/RIS Configuration (Keypad)
From the Touchscreen KEYPAD select [MAIN MENU].
Select [SERVICE].
Module 5
HIS/RIS Configuration (Keypad)
Type in the Polling Interval in minutes and click [ENTER].
– This is how often the MIM will poll the BROKER for updates to the Patient List.
– Range is from 2 to 60 minutes.
– MIM will only poll the BROKER when the KEYPAD is at the “Study Information” or
“Patient List” screens.
Module 5
HIS/RIS Configuration (Keypad)
Select [RETENTION PERIOD].
Type in the retention period in hours (from 1 – 48) and press [ENTER].
– This is the length of time a record will remain in the patient list after the scheduled procedure
time before it auto-deletes.
– This setting also determines what records are pulled back when polling the BROKER. If the
retention period is set to 24 hours, the MIM looks for records with a scheduled procedure time
+/- 24 hours of the current time.
Module 5
HIS/RIS Configuration (Keypad)
Click [HIS/RIS CONFIGURATION].
Click [ADD STATION NAME].
Click [RETURN].
Module 5
HIS/RIS Enhancements
MIM V_6.1 contains the HIS/RIS fixes from V_6.0p2 and V_6.0p3 patch
software versions.
Increasing the polling interval from the 5 minute default decreases network
traffic at the customer site.
Patient List can now be sorted by “Patient Name” (ascending order) or by
“scheduled time” (descending order from most recent).
Starting in V_6.0, the MIM uses its configured AE Title when
communicating with the BROKER.
– Operator scans the bar code while the KEYPAD is at the Acquisition screen.
– Operator scans the bar code and gets one of the following results:
– Record is found in the MIM local database. Patient demographic fields fill in
automatically.
OR
• If multiple matches are found the keypad switches to the patient list and results
of the query are displayed. Operator picks the correct record and returns to the
acquisition screen.
• If no matches are found the bar code data that was scanned will be placed in the
corresponding patient demographic field and the remaining demographic fields
will be empty.

Module 6
Bar Code Reader Enhancements
Demographics can be entered manually at the Touchscreen Keypad or received from the Bar
Code Reader or Broker.
Module 7
Printing Patient Demographics
Up to 6 annotation fields can be printed on the film.
– If “DICOM Annotation” is supported the 6 fields will be printed at the
bottom of the film in 2 rows of 3 evenly spaced columns.
– If “Common Text” is chosen the 6 fields will be grouped and centered in a
line at the bottom of the page.
Printing the patient demographics takes away from the space available to
print clinical images. Clinical image size may be reduced to compensate.

Module 8
Film Counter Enhancement
What is it ?
From an SCP perspective, the film count is broken out by each DICOM source as
identified by the unique Source ID within SCP Services.
Why is it needed ?
Easier to keep track of the film count made by each attached SCU to a SCP target.
Module 8

Module 8
Other MIM Changes and Limitations
MIM V_6.1 does not support the Kodak 1200 DESKTOP MEDICAL IMAGER
and Kodak 3600 DESKTOP MEDICAL IMAGER.
MIM V_6.1 cannot be loaded on the MIM 50, Kodak PACS Link DICOM PRINT
SERVER (DPS), Kodak Distributed MEDICAL IMAGE SPOOLER (DMIS), and
MIM 100-120MHz.
– (120MHz = s/n < 111345)
MIM 200-2.4GHz does not support the MIM OI Board. PRINT SERVER
connections to the Kodak Ektascan 1120 LASER PRINTER and the Kodak
Ektascan 2180 LASER PRINTER must use the MIM 200-667, MIM 200-1GHz,
or MIM 200-1200MHz.
If the MIM V_6.1 has an address conflict, Microsoft Windows 2000 OPERATING
SYSTEM disables the network adapter and a connection to the IP address of the
MIM will not work. You must connect with the serial cable using the RAS pool
address.
The MIM V_6.1 no longer needs to be connected to the network for the configured
IP address to be active.

Module 8
Other MIM Changes and Limitations
When accessing a MIM through a VPN you must use the pcANYWHERE
SOFTWARE to reach mimdui on the desktop and configure that way. Service
Application from the laptop will not connect reliably.
The pcANYWHERE SOFTWARE will not find the MIM V_6.1 when you scan the
network. You must know the MIM IP address and make a Kodak SecureLink
SOFTWARE connection to it, then connect the pcANYWHERE SOFTWARE to
127.0.0.1.
MIM uses its configured AE title when communicating with the HIS/RIS
BROKER. In versions before 6.0 the AE title was always sent as “MIM”.
MIM V_6.1 includes the HIS/RIS and 8800 fixes from V_5.2p2, V_6.0p2, and
V_6.0p3 patches.
Module 8
Other MIM Changes and Limitations
With MIM V_6.1 software, the MIM 200-2.4 GHz and 25 PRINT SERVER support a
“soft” power-off.
The 25 PRINT SERVER requires 256 MB RAM to meet the performance requirements
with MIM V_6.1. Mod 40 for the 25 PRINT SERVER does not include the RAM since
most 25 PRINT SERVERS were manufactured with 256 MB RAM.
The MIM 100 requires a RAM upgrade to 128 MB to support V_6.1. Mod 40 for MIM 100
includes the RAM and the V_6.1 “Ghost” CD.
Because of the larger software footprint, each MIM model has a separate Ghost CD and the
hard drive must be a minimum of 10 GB.
Changes to user passwords are not automatically backed up on the floppy. If privacy is
enabled, the System Administrator should recommend the operators back up configuration
from the keypad any time they change passwords.
Module 8
Other MIM Changes and Limitations
Bar code scanning of patient name or physician name does not find matches properly.
Physician name is not a supported matching field in the DICOM standard and normal
customer usage is to scan Accession number or Patient ID.
MIM V_6.0 and V_6.1 require circuit boards be installed in specific slot assignments as
detailed in the MIM V_6.1 Service Manual.
System Console information (Key Operator and Security Administrator accounts) cannot
be mirrored from a MIM V_6.0 to a MIM V_6.1.
Some older IBM ThinkPad 600X LAPTOP COPMPUTERS may have memory limitations
that cause problems loading and running the Kodak SecureLink SOFTWARE V_1.1.
Module 9
MIM Embedded Enclosures
New hardware platforms for the MIM 100 and MIM 200.
Module 9
MIM Embedded Enclosures
Kodak PACS Link 25 PRINT SERVER will be discontinued.
The new MIM 200 enclosure is small enough to mount on the back of Kodak
DryView 8100 LASER IMAGER and Kodak DryView 8200 LASER IMAGER in
place of the 25 PRINT SERVER.
Module 9
MIM Embedded Enclosures
New enclosures are smaller, easier to service, have better parts availability, and
have a longer lifecycle than the current MIM platforms.
New enclosures use the same input and output boards and cables as the current
enclosures.
MIM V_6.1 is the minimum required software version for the new platforms.
The new MIM platforms with V_6.1 software support different configurations
and functionality than the “old” MIM platforms with V_6.1 software.
Module 9
MIM 200-1200 Embedded Enclosure
The MIM 200-1200 can be configured as a 1 or 2 input MODALITY SERVER, or
as a PRINT SERVER. COMBO BOX configurations are not allowed by the
software.
The MIM 200-1200 will work as a PRINT SERVER for the Kodak Ektascan 1120
LASER PRINTER the or the Kodak Ektascan 2180 LASER PRINTER.
The MIM 200-1200 can mount on the back of the Kodak DryView 8100 LASER
IMAGER or Kodak DryView 8200 LASER IMAGER with a special mounting kit
accessory.
Overall size and weight is greater than the Kodak PACS Link 25 PRINT SERVER,
but much smaller than the IBM enclosures.
Module 9
MIM 200-1200 Embedded Enclosure
Weight: 11.34 kg (25 lb) 15.9 kg (35 lb) 6.4 kg (14.2 lb)
Module 9
MIM 100-1200 Embedded Enclosure
Nearly the same enclosure as the MIM 200-1200 with some changes to support
patient contact.
Contains a medical grade power supply which makes the enclosure slightly larger
then the MIM 200-1200 but still much smaller than the current MIM100.
Module 9
MIM 100-1200 Embedded Enclosure
Default Mod Server for the EEC. Eliminates the need for the MIM
200/NIB/UPS/Isolation transformer configuration.
Contains CD-ROM drive for easier service.
Module 9
MIM 100-1200 Embedded Enclosure
MIM 100-1200 MIM 100-433
Input Boards Supported: Video 150LC, Digital Video 150, Video 150LC,
1 or 2 inputs Digital (Single input only)
Module 9
MIM Embedded Enclosures
MIM 200-1200 cannot be configured as a COMBO BOX. If you configure a direct input
first, the network input is grayed out. If you configure a network input, the direct input is
grayed out.
MIM 100-1200 and MIM 200-1200 use the same motherboard and BIOS. It is possible to
“ghost” the MIM 100-1200 with the MIM 200-1200 CD and create a PRINT SERVER, but
do not do this. The MIM 100-1200 is significantly more expensive than the MIM 200-
1200, and the only added benefit is the patient contact rating which is not needed for a
PRINT SERVER.
Module 9
MIM Embedded Enclosures
The MIM 100-1200 and MIM 200-1200 will have AURs available through
Service Parts Management with Service Engineer approval.
Service Parts Management will also stock individual replacement parts for the
units with the intention of decreasing the number of AUR units replaced.
