Heart of a Pirate

Real name Beatrice Martin. Born September 22, 1989. Raised in Montreal, Qubec, Canada. She started piano when she was 3 years old.

Keyboardist in December Strikes First at age 15. Briefly the keyboardist for Bonjour Brumaire. Released the album Coeur de pirate in 2008 on Grosse Boite and was nominated for Francophone Album of the Year at 2009 Juno Awards. In March of 2009, she started a project called Pearls, an English side-project, which she hasnt continued.

Appeared on CBC Radio CBC Radios Q radio show with Jian Ghomeshi in June of 2009. Her song Comme des Enfants got the 2009 Bucky award for Best reason to learn French and in 2010 she received an award at the French version of the Grammys, Victoires de la Musique. Until 2010, she sang only in French, but she was then featured in the song Brutal Hearts. Her next album is to come out November 8, 2011.

She has appeared in concert with Julien Dore singing Umbrella originally by Rihanna, along with Pour un infidele. She was featured in the song Brutal Hearts with Bedouin Soundclash on the album Light the Horizon. She was also in Peter Peters song Tergiverse.
