Who is she?
Melanie Adele Martínez Vargas is an American singer-
songwriter, screenwriter, director, actress, dancer, Mart
and photographer of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent.
From a very young age she started playing the guitar and
singing. He first auditioned for the vocal talent program of
American television The Voice and became a member of
Team Adam, where his popularity grew rapidly among fans.
Within the fifth week, she was eliminated, which later led
her to work on original material.

Early life
Melanie was born in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens,
New York and grew up in Baldwin, Long Island, New York.
She said that "she loved to sing since she was very young"
and that she taught herself to play the guitar at the age of
14 looking for chord diagrams of the songs she liked and
learning chord diagrams to be able to write original songs
as well. Began to upload versions of songs such as "Follow
Me" by Uncle Kracker, "How to Save a Life" by The Fray
and "Not a Second to Waste" by A Rocket to his YouTube
channel in 2009.

Musical career
After being eliminated from the Top 6 in The Voice, Melanie
began working independently on original material. On April 7,
2014, he announced that he signed with Atlantic Records and
that he would go on tour. They launched a new single entitled
Dollhouse on May 19, 2014, along with a music video. Shortly
after, he released his first EP Dollhouse on May 19, 2014, which
included the singles Dollhouse and Carousel, which then
received a music video in October of that year. Dead to Me and
Bittersweet Tragedy were also included in the EP. The EP is
mainly about a relationship that doesn't work, excluding
Dollhouse.

Official albums
Melanie released her debut album, Cry Baby, on August 14, 2015. It
was available for pre-order on July 24, Melanie released her second
album, K-12, accompanied by a feature film of the same name, on
September 6, 2019. On June 26, 2020, Melanie released the second
single from After School, entitled Fire Drill, four months after its
original release date. After 2 years of hiatus, he announced that he
was going to release his new studio album called PORTALS on
March 31, 2023, and released a snippet of the song DEATH on
Spotify.

Nomination
In October 2020, Melanie was nominated for Best
Soundtrack for the Billboard Music Awards for her
Album / Movie K-12. This was his first major
nomination in the music industry, now he is waiting for
the film, which is speculated will be released in 2024,
although it does not have an official release date.
