The Principles of Hanbli School:
• 5 principles
• From the speech of Ibn-al-Qayyim
First:
• The texts of the Quran and Sunnah reported from the prophet (peace
be upon him).
• Does not give the practice, opinion, analogy and opinion of the
companion over the genuine tradition.
Second:
• Opinions of the companions.
• Companions not contradicted by other companions.
Third:
• Selecting from opinions of companions.
• Which were nearer to Quran and the Sunnah.
Fourth:
• There is no necessity for analogy in presence of Hadith, even though it has a
broken chain or is weak.
• Hadith with the broken chain was preferable to use of analogy.
Fifth:
• In the absence of incident in the Quran, Sunnah, opinion of companions,
and broken chain Hadith.
• Ahmad resorted to analogy out of necessity.
Followers of Ahmad were harsh in spreading the doctrines of his school.
