he entered the University of Pisa at the
age of 16.

philosophy against his father’s wishes.
Family
• Galileo met Marina Gamba and bore 3 children
together.

• Two of his daughters became nuns, which are Sister


Maria Celeste and Sister Livia Galilei.

• Galileo’s son was named after his father; from


Vincenzio Gamba to Vincenzo Galilei.

• Galileo and Marina never got married, and soon


after Galileo left Padua, Marina married a different
man. But the two still kept in contact.
