INTRODUCTION

• Carry and spread concentrated loads to the soil

• Prevents punching failure
• Distributing stresses to a wider area
• Reinforced pad foundation enhances bearing capacity.

LITERATURE REVIEW
AUTHOR REVIEW

Jelušic and Žlender. • Addresses load distribution and soil interaction.

(2018)

Kocak and Mengi (1999) • A simple 3-D soil structure interaction (SSI) model is proposed.
• Parameters of this model are determined.
• A general computer software is developed.
Sharma et al. (2008) • Aims at developing analytical solutions for estimating the ultimate bearing capacity.
• Failure mechanisms for reinforced soil foundations are proposed.
• Predicted bearing capacity values are compared with the results of laboratory
model tests on reinforced sand and silty clay soil.
• The predicted bearing capacity values from analytical solutions are in good
agreement with the test results.

LITERATURE REVIEW
AUTHORS REVIEW

Kumar and Saran (2002) • In the present paper, a method of analysis for calculating the pressure
intensity corresponding to a given settlement for a rectangular footing
resting on reinforced soil foundation has been presented. The process has
been simplified by presenting non-dimensional charts for the various terms
used in the analysis, which can be directly used by practicing engineers. An
empirical method has been suggested to find out the ultimate bearing
capacity of footing on reinforced soil. The results have been validated with
large-scale model tests also. The procedure has been made clear by giving
an illustrative example.
