Costume

The main girl, Sophia, will be wearing shabby, ripped clothes so it shows the viewers she has been drugged, and possibly sexually harassed. She has been held hostage, therefore she would probably have duck tape round her mouth to prevent her from screaming which would attract attention and the villains would get caught. She wouldnt be wearing much clothing as the villains would have taken everything from her, and checked her coat pockets. Also shes in a small, claustrophobic, wooden box, therefore she might get hot and sweaty, especially from wriggling about, trying to break free, but it is physically impossible for her.

Lighting
We were thinking of having green wash lighting in the container to create an ominous atmosphere and it makes the container seem more smoky and hazy which signifies danger. Also your eye vision is not accurate when there is smoke, so you are unaware of your surroundings, which creates suspense. It is going to be dim lighting with perhaps a bit of light, for example a torch, in order for the audience to see her facial expression, this again creates a satanic, worrying atmosphere and gives us empathy towards the girl. As the villains open the wooden box the girl is in, there is a strong light beaming down into her eyes so we are aware she has arrived at her final destination. It also shows that she has been in the box for a long time, as she is squinting at the sight of day light.

Actors
There will be one actor in our thriller who will play the character of a teenage girl who has been held hostage by these Bulgarians in Sofia. She will have an innocent look on her face like in the picture on the left, so that the audience have sympathy for her. She will be about fourteen years of age with blonde hair. She will be feeling very vulnerable, fragile, petrified, therefore she will be shaking and sweating with fear. This girl character, who we decided to call Sofia because its the capital of Bulgaria, is similar to the girl in the film, The Lovely Bones, who is young, innocent andsimply terrified.

Makeup
Her makeup is essential in this opening sequence because she is the main and only character in this scene, therefore we will only be focusing on her, so the audience will want to see something that will shock them, for example, black eyes, bruises, scratches and blood on her face. We want the audience to recognise the abusiveness on her face, and this will show she has been beaten up by someone, and that its not right for her to be in this container. It represents the girl as the victim, and the drivers, or kidnappers as the villains. If there are bruises on her face, we will have more sympathy for the girl, especially as shes only young, so it subverts our expectations on adults, as they are supposed to be loving and caring towards children or teenagers, not abusing them.

Props
We will have thick, strong chains so she cant escape, which are tied around her hands, to portray she is being held hostage. We were thinking of using rope, but that is slightly old fashioned and easier to break through from. We were thinking of using a torch for light in the wooden box, so we can visualise her facial expressions more clearly, however this might not work as its unlikely the villains would give the victim a torch, on the other hand, they do that in Kill Bill in the graveyard scene. We are going to get lots of wooden boxes, not just the one the girl is going to be in, but boxes for storage, which may contain the villains weapons, or other girls theyve captured, or it they might just be there to hide the girl in the box in case their container gets searched. The boxes will have eye holes in them, so the girl can see where she is, and for oxygen. The eye holes will give her a little sunlight; this creates a gloomy effect.

Set
We chose to set the scene in a container because it isolated, and useful for smuggling things such as girls in this scenario across borders, or to a certain place.
