To what extent the September 2000 United Nations Millennium Declaration, the 2015 Millennium Development Goals and the recent UN reports on these topics have been promoted and discussed within your NGO? Can you provide copy of the papers or reports resulting from such discussions and meetings?   The Virtue Foundation held a panel meeting on eradicating poverty The Virtue foundation sent a medical mission to Cambodia to perform oculoplastic surgery on victims of acid burns and made a documentary which addressed the interconnection between poverty, security and injustice and the need for legal reform in developing countries to secure the rights of its most vulnerable citizens. Peter Hesse Foundation organizes campaigns at the national level in Germany: entitled voices against poverty Deniva published a report on the eradication of poverty Alvaralice Foundation is involved in the eradication of poverty through the development of social development projects with the government

AIWEFA attended the 49th session of the Committee on the Status of Women AIWEFA attended the international conference Gender mainstreaming and the MDGs 28th-30th March 2005 in Islamabad, Pakistan The Armenian Relief Society organized a workshop in 2004 entitled; an empathies on engaging boys and men as full partners of women and children CAWE attended a special forum on macro-management from gender macroperspective Alvaralice Foundation promotes gender equality by supporting programs that offer social assistance and vocational training to low-income or displaced lowwomen in Columbia

The Armenian Relief Society organised a workshop in 2004 entitled: HIV/AIDS Education, Prevention and Care AIWEFA organised a seminar related to the MDGs with the research and advisory centre for HIV/AIDS as a key speaker. Alvaralice Foundation deals with projects concerning HIV/AIDS and health of various segments of the population that are particularly vulnerable.

OISCA contributed to environmental sustainability through a holistic approach basing themselves on the interconnectivity of agriculture, ecological integrity and human spirit. AIWEFA introduced a committee of experts to create an obligatory module: a 6 month environmental studies module in all branches of higher education Global Policy Forum attended the Commission on Sustainable Development as well as the Johannesburg Summit

The Armenian Relief Society organised a workshop in 2002 entitled From less than zero: Opportunities in rebuilding economies Peace Boat is an important partner in the global partnership for the prevention of armed conflict. Global Policy Forum organised an NGO work group, which deals with Security Council issues. BUNYAD worked on a number of projects in partnership with the World Bank, the ILO and the Punjab government in India. India.

1 - Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger 7 - Ensure Environmental Sustainability
Model eco-village based on socio-economic sustainability and community living. Improving the use of natural resources, protecting complex ecosystems, preventing land degradation and assuring sustainable biodiversity through permaculture and organic farming by: Creating non-transgenic seed banks Promoting healthy nutrition through organic agriculture and permaculture Sharing material possessions, living space and food production prevents sleeping capital and considerably increases the efficiency of resources. This model offers a key to eradicate poverty and hunger. (Statistics available). The I.D.E.A.L. community has 75 permanent residents who have supported and participated daily in the above project.

2 - Achieve Universal Primary Education 3 - Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
Mothers hold the key for humanitys future and they need to be given the conditions to work consciously for their children and future generations. The first educator is the mother. Why? The mother, with her power of thoughts, with the power of her beauty and clarity of goal, with her desires, can prepare the space, the soil, the feelings of her child with unconditional love, especially during pregnancy. Establishing an international network of education, health, and healing centers. Student Scholarship Programme Initiative. Seminars, lectures and workshops on education given by Dr. Natacha Kolesar in Canada, France, the U.S, Switzerland, Russia, Costa Rica, Italy, Togo, Ivory Coast, Germany, India, Mexico, Honduras, France and North America. Promotion of equality in education of both sexes

Building prenatal education centers and birth and health centers worldwide, where specialists in various fields will assist, instruct and prepare future parents, and work with pregnant women from local and international communities. Organized the 3rd International Conference on Perinatal Health in Montreal, Canada 27 month programme for mothers before and after birth Lectures at the U.N. and worldwide: Prenatal Education and the Future of Mankind, Education and Non-Violence, The Role of Women in the New Millenium, Health and Nutrition, Youth and Creativity in the Future, Preconception Work, The New Educational System Alternative therapies and Health Centers offer services such as Midwifery, Music therapy, Bio-psychology, Bioanalogy (the psychology of illness and its effect on biology), Sophro-analysis (the discovery of our hidden feelings), Osteopathy, etc.

8- Develop a Global Partnership for Development
Core social values underlying I.D.E.A.L. activities and programmes: the creation of a new vision of humanity as one family. Directors, professionals, contributors, students, and participants represent diverse racial, ethnic, national, religious, and linguistic backgrounds. Their collective expertise and growing international network of educators and supporters will allow them to:
1) Advise on issues that relate to social progress and policies that promote that progress, 2) Suggest practical ways of educating the public about social development issues, and 3) Help improve international understanding of those issues through the exchange of information and experience/develop a global partnership for development. Examples: Creation of I.D.E.A.L. Bangladesh, I.D.E.A.L. France and I.D.E.AL. U.S.A. Student exchange and lectures with the UN University of Peace, Costa Rica Financial assistance to orphanages in India, Rumania and Russia

 Project Shramdaan - Income Generation Program for jobless youths through recommendations to the Institutes Corporate Benefactors  Self Help Groups for Adult Rural Women - Imparting training to use grinding machines to grind raw spices and sell the ground spices to earn a living.  Joint Base-Line Survey of Tribal Families with the Government of India, Tribal Affairs Ministry on Tribal Artisans below Poverty-line  Self Help groups for 300 poverty-stricken Tribal Artisans to improve their living conditions and become bankable by exposing them to new incomegenerating schemes including tribal handicrafts and handloom-making  Submission of Recommendation on Sustainable Self Help Group Module which has been accepted as official UN Document by the ECOSOC for Self Reliance for Least Developed Nations

 Project Sushiksha: Literacy Program for Rural and Urban Slum Women to give basic education to themselves and ensure appropriate education of their children in the long run  The Institute represented the Government of West Bengal, Ministry of Social Welfare in the Central Advisory Committee of the Women and Child Welfare Ministry, Government of India, and gave views on preventing illicit cross border trafficking of women and children from the neighbouring Nations or from remote rural areas

 Pursuance of Condom Legislation to stop the birth of unhealthy or unwanted children through Mass Signatures submitted to the State Health Minister-in-Charge, Government of West Bengal, Honble Dr. Surjya Kanta Mishra, in June 2003  Conduct regular Health Check-up camps and Nutrition awareness programmes for pregnant or lactating mothers  Regular observances of the UN Days on related issues

 Project HOPE - HIV Prevention Programs campaigned through the Institutes Free Clinic at Sonagachhi Red Light Zone, Kolkata - Conducting of Free Blood Testing for 500 willing Sex-workers and their Children to find their HIV status -Promotion of Condom usage amongst clients of Sexworkers  Celebration of World AIDS Day at Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor of West Bengal, in December 2002  Implementation of Kamasutra based Safe Sex Entertainment Module amongst Sex workers and their clients to diminish the risk of HIV/AIDS infection. Acknowledged and reported in BBC, Los Angeles Times, AFC and numerous other international media.  Conducted a 12-day International 2-Wheeler-Rally on HIV/AIDS from India to Nepal which touched the route in which trans-border flesh trade is prevalent  Conducted an Origami Workshop by Miss Chiho Miyake, a Japanese Intern of IISD, for bringing Self Reliance amongst HIV Patients of West Bengal. Confederation of Indian Industry ensured afterwards the sales of the Handicrafts

Ensure Environmental Sustainability
Observation of the annual World Environment Week by way of distributing Green Plants and helping school children with their AntiPollution Rallies Distribution of Green Plants, in red-light zone by Dr. P.K. Agrawal, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal Anti-Pollution Walk, supported by Ms Reshmi Ghosh (Miss India 2001)

Develop Global Partnership for Development
 Organization of an UN-NGO IRENE Meet on the Role of Women Empowerment in Poverty Alleviation  Ms. Najet Karaboni, Senior Interregional Advisor and Project Coordinator UN-NGO-IRENE in Kolkata, with our tribal artisans and their handicrafts  We organized the United Nations Procurement Conference on How to do Business with the United Nations and become its supplier. Eight High-level UN Procurement Officials from UNPS, ILO, UNFPA, UNHCR, UN Oversight, WFP, WIPO, FAO as well as 131 Heads of Indian Companies for a productive Buyer-Seller-Meet with a sustainable outcome for Indo-UNBusiness!  Institute appointed Institutional Ambassador to the UN system for Indian Handicrafts, by the Office of the Development Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India

The NGOs need be better informed and involved in the preparation of their Country Report
 

The Country Reports are a reference tool for the NGOs to address the MDGs These reports will benefit from NGO contribution

Partnership between the NGOs, with governments and the education sector is essential


More cooperation and coordination amongst the aforementioned is needed for the successful achievement of the MDGs

Suggestions of NGOs in the Questionnaire




 

Strengthen or establish capacity building programmes such as human resources, socio-economic and physical socioinfrastructure. CrossCross-fertilisation, networking and partnerships at national, regional and international levels. Work with universities to promote the inclusion of MDGs into their curriculum, enriched by field work experiences. Integrate a youth perspective and participation and develop youth centres of excellence in the evaluation and solutionsolution-seeking for all MDGs. Select a MDG Youth Ambassador to increase awareness of the MDGs amongst youth and raise their participation worldwide.

Suggestions of NGOs in the Questionnaire




 

Increase the number of international conferences involving students, academia and professionals to promote awareness and information sharing. Test the efficiency of MDG teaching programmes in a controlled manner in order to measure their impact. Understand the causes for dehumanising conditions. Establish a Communication and Information service in every school in order to publicise the progress of the MDGs.

Suggestions of NGOs in the Questionnaire




Train NGOs (Training of Trainers ToT) involved in MDG implementation, in order for these NGOs to train other NGOs and people in the country and region. Engage educators worldwide to MDGs and commit more resources to train teachers effectively and include MDGs as part of their training program in partnership with local authorities. Assess MDG awareness to draw up a need-based needprogram; help local leaders to work within the framework of the government plan; encourage partnership between NGOs, civil society, private sector and local leaders.

Suggestions of NGOs in the Questionnaire


 

Prevent the brain drain by having the government and the corporate sector offer attractive alternatives. Organise symposiums, conferences and workshops aimed at both educating communities, particularly social development communities, sector professionals, and working with local structures to access human and financial resources. Design a communication campaign directly involving and targeting specific media segments (written press, radio, television, internet, etc.) in order to obtain their commitment campaign. in the design and promotion of a MDG awareness campaign. Utilize organizations to produce public service announcements encouraging broadcast media to develop shows on MDGs, approaching production companies and documentary filmmakers to address MDGs, encouraging publishers and editors of print media to incorporate stories about MDG issue.

Broadcast Internet courses on Information Communication Technology (ICT) as an essential tool for the MDG implementation. Have the UN develop school curriculums to be taught at the elementary and high school levels. Encourage local NGOs to make themselves available as guest speakers. speakers. Mobilise communities, municipalities and local communities, authorities as key actors for an enlightened daydayto-day implementation of the MDGs. to-

NGOs have been active in increasing the awareness of the Millennium Development Goals. The NGO survey indicates that communication and coordination among governments, academia and civil society are lagging. Cross-fertilisation amongst them will Crossenhance the implementation of the MDGs. A more interactive grassroots approach along with a fine-tuned psycho-pedagogical tools are finepsychorequested in order to engage and enroll the educators and their students in the achievement of the MDGs by 2015.
