The Module

By nature, adolescents are always in search for what seems to be


an elusive part of life – their identity. In this day and age, there are
many different sources of distraction that result in positive and
negative influences among the youth. Because these influences,
members of the current generation tend to live in the present instead
of adopting a future – oriented mindset (Bencsik, Hovath-Csikos, and
Juhasz, 2016).

The Module

Creating a personal vision simply means focusing your efforts


forward and looking at how your aspirants and dreams can be
attained. A personal vision serves as a lighthouse that illuminates
your path.
your success is the direct effect of your careful planning for the
future. Therefore, the first step toward any kind of achievement is to
envision it.

The Theory
The Theory of Intentional Change (Boyatzsi, 2006) speaks about
the process of cultivating and sustaining positive change in one’s
thoughts, feelings, and behavior to achieve his/her goals. The process
of change involves a series of discoveries that begins with the
creation of an ideal self and personal vision for the future.
Three major elements of Ideal Self:
1. An image of a desired future
2. Hope that one can attain it through sel-efficacy and optimism
3. Comprehensive sense of one’s core identity, including one’s

ACTIVITY: Draw a
Description: This activity requires students to draw something while

ACTIVITY: Draw a
Procedure:

1.Instruct students to accomplish Worksheet 1.1: Draw A Face.

2.In preparation for the activity, tell the students to put a blindfold on
themselves. They may ask for help from a classmate.
3.While the students are blindfolded, read the step-by-step
procedures as follows:
a. On your worksheet, draw a large circle.
b. Draw a half-moon or crescent shape inside the bottom of the
circle.

e. On the left outer side of the circle, draw a small vertical oval.

A personal vision is the ability to see work and life in a way that
is personally meaningful, stimulating, inspiring, fulfilling, and in
alignment with who you are (Chan, 2008).
A life lived with meaning is the path one must take toward the

What is a Personal Vision?
A personal vision can be the driving force on needs to continue

greatly influence career and life choices and can have many positive
effects in various instances.
