The study investigates the patterns of the queen's move in Gliński's Hexagonal Chess, emphasizing its importance in enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. It aims to identify the trace patterns of the queen's move and the minimum number required for winning. The research highlights the challenges in observing these patterns due to the unique hexagonal board shape, which complicates traditional chess strategies.

GLINSKI’S HEXAGONAL CHESS :

TRACING PATTERNS OF QUEEN’S

MOVE TO WIN
Title:
Background of the study:
• Chess has been introduced as a major part of the
curriculum, because chess increases the
mathematical and scientific skills of the students.
It also increases the problem solving skills of the
pupils.
• Chess teaches a child that he/she is responsible
for his own actions, and it gives him/her the
confidence and courage to confront all the
inappropriate consequences.
Statement of the problem:
• This study aims to determine tracing the patterns
of the queen’s move in order to win in a hexagonal
chess game. It seeks to answer the following
questions:

[Link] are the trace patterns of the queen’s move

to win?
[Link] is the least possible number of trace
patterns we can form for the queen’s move to win?
Significance of the study
• One of the essential goals of education is to teach
children to think critically: students must learn to
make reasoned judgments.
• Chess is an excellent tool to demonstrate the
theme of critical thinking. During a game a player
must formulate a plan of attack or defense.
Significance of the sutdy
• Chess also helps adolescents in improving their
analysis and evaluation of a position, it also
exercises the brain. By playing the game of chess
children will develop not only independent thinking
but also self-discipline, responsibility, and will
power to attain his/her goal.
Scope of limitation
• This study is limited only in the ability, capacity,
and the power of the queen via chess rules. It is
also only limited within the Gliński's Hexagonal
Chess board.
Methodology:
• Chess strategy is concerned with evaluation of
chess positions and with setting up goals and long-
term plans for the future play.
• During the evaluation, players must take into
account numerous factors such as the value of
pieces on board, control of the center and
centralization, the pawn structure, the king safety,
the control of key squares or groups of squares(for
example, diagonals, open-files, and dark or light
squares), etc.
Research Instrument:
 In playing a Glinski’s
hexagonal chess game,
you need to have an
hexagonal chess board
with a complete chess
pieces.
 In this study the
researcher needed a
different sizes hexagonal
chess, the chess pieces, a
pen, and a paper.
Interpretations
• It is not common finding or even tracing the moves of the
queen to defeat its opponent which it can form patterns
because of some certain factors, one factor was the
adjustment of those spaces due to its nes shape which is
hexagon.

• It also depends on the side of the chess board the

researcher is using.
Interpretations:
• Even those people who play chess since they find it not
easy to observe those patterns but instead they can
defeat the opponents restricting the patterns.
• Due to the new appearance of the chess board, the
patterns that were formed in a normal chess board are
not applicable in this kind of chess( Glinkski's Hexagonal
Chess).
• Tracing the patterns of the queen's move is not easy to
construct. With all those moves that the queen acquire, it
will take a long time, observing those patterns the
researcher want.
Summary
• Each player has one queen. The queen can move in any
direction-forward, backwar, side to side, or diagonally, as
long as the path is not blocked by another piece.
• The move of the queen are based on the number of
moves it did during the game. And as mentioned in the
interpretations, finding patterns in this game was not that
easy, it took a lot of time analyzing the moves of the
queen so it can formulate patterns.
• But instead it can defeat the opponents restricting
the patterns.
Conclusion:
• From the finding of the researcher, it concludes that the
queen is an important chess piece. It is the strongest, and
thus, the most powerful piece in the game of chess game.
• Each player must think of their moves first before
executing the move, each must protect their king, in order
for them to survive the game.
