Background of the
Diabetes, also known as Diabetes Mellitus, is a group of
Study
common endocrine diseases characterized by
persistently high blood sugar levels. This condition
occurs either when the pancreas does not produce
enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use
the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone that
regulates blood glucose. In people with diabetes, glucose
remains in the blood and does not reach the cells.
Incorporating a variety of vegetables and fruits into your
diet can significantly aid in diabetes prevention.
Background of the
Study
As of 2021, the International Diabetes
Federation reported that approximately
4.3 million adults in the Philippines have
diabetes, representing a prevalence rate
of 7.5% among the adult population.
Background of the
Study
Many impoverished nations have long utilized bitter melon
(Momordica charantia ) as a medicinal meal. This tropical fruit
is said to have medicinal properties since it contains bioactive
chemicals. It may help with lowering blood sugar, which some
studies suggest means it can aid in diabetes treatment.
Traditional Chinese medicine uses mulberry leaves (Morus
alba) extensively to treat diabetes mellitus and its
consequences. Polysaccharides, alkaloids, and flavonoids are
among the bioactive substances found in these leaves,
according to studies, and they may help control blood sugar
levels.
Significance of the
Study
The purpose of this study is to be beneficial to the following:
• Diabetes Patients. People with diabetes, especially those
with Type 2 diabetes, may benefit from natural, plant-based
supplements that help regulate blood sugar levels.
• Future Reseachers. This study can be used as reference for
future researchers who will make the same study.
Statement of the
Problem
This research aims to create a herbal medicine
that combines Ampalaya and Mulberry leaves and
to investigate its potential as a natural support
for diabetes management.
Scope and
Delimitations
This study aims to evaluate the performance of
using herbal medicine such as Ampalaya and
Mulberry Leaves. The primary objective is to
evaluate the use of Ampalaya and Mulberry
Leaves as natural diabetes support. This study will
only use Ampalaya and Mulberry Leaves and will
not investigate other herbal medicines for the
experiment.
