Abstract Indonesia is an archipelago, most of its territory consists of water. However, the vast waters of Indonesia, which is rich in potential was not matched by research related to the condition of Indonesian waters itself. One is the flow of surface sea water which is a mass movement caused by wind that blows in the sea at a depth of less than 200 m that is moving from one place of highpressurized air to place a low air pressure is very broad and occurs in all oceans in the world. With the development of the system of Jason-1 satellite altimetry that some of them have a mission, namely the determination of wind speeds above sea level and determining the flow characteristic, which can be used as a basis for making a model of sea surface current pattern in Indonesian waters caused by wind blowing on the surface of the sea water which is expected to benefit the society and also useful for research next. Altimetry data from Jason-1 satellites were processed using MATLAB 8.0. Modelling patterns of ocean currents is done every cycle within a period of years from 2002 to 2009. The result shows that the range of months from December to February the orderly movement of ocean currents from west to east direction, and vice versa in the range of months from June to August the direction of movement of ocean currents regularly

from east to west. When there is a transition period of movement of the wind on the moon from March to May and September November, direction of movement of current in one cycle tends to split into two directions, ie from Asia to Australia and from Australia to Asia. For eight years, the Indonesian territorial waters which in each cycle, the average has a strong current that is in the Molucca Sea and the Strait Karimata with velocity 800 cm / sec up to> 1200 cm / sec. While areas in each cycle, the average fast-moving weak ie in the Java Sea, the waters south of Java and the Celebes Sea to the sea current speed range that is small for 0-400 cm / sec. At the time of transition, the movement of ocean currents in the waters of Indonesia does not irregular at speeds ranging from 0-400 cm / sec.
