If God Calls You To Do Something, Youll Love Doing It And If You Do What You Love, Blessings Will Follow
PEOPLE ask me all the time, Bo, how can I know Gods mission for my life? First thing to check? Your Passion. These recent years, Ive been coaching people in their small businesses. (Im no expert, but when I get stumped, I link up with mentors better than me.) And one of the most powerful elements of business success is passion. If the entrepreneur works like hes not working, but playing, enjoying everything he does, gets lost in what he does, will do what he does even if he doesnt get paideven if he makes all sorts of mistakes at the start by the end of his journey, the likelihood of success is gigantic. When God calls us to do something, He would give us the passion to do it with all our heart. We will find ourselves happy doing it in the long-term, even if well have to go

through unhappy times in the short-term. Second thing to check? Your Potential. Heres my belief: God has given you a unique gift that will make you a Superstar in your world. If you find your unique gift, youll be Number One. Hey, Im not suggesting that you be superstar of the entire world. Just the superstar of your niche. Let me give you an example. Im not the best preacher in the world.

Again, my mother will disagree, but please be quiet about it and dont burst her bubble. Shes 87 years old and I want her to live the rest of her remaining 23 years of her life on earth (yes, shell live until 110) with the belief that Im the best preacher in the world. So Shhhhhhh But this I can accept. I think Im one of the best when it comes to preachers who are (1) Lay, (2) Catholic, (3) Married (4) Practical, (5) Funny (in a corny way), (6) Story-Telling, (7) English Speaking-because his Tagalog sounds queer (9) and has a mole on his left cheek that if not shaven twice a week grows into an ugly bush. In that tiny, tiny, tiny niche, Im the superstar. Hey, its your turn. How can you be a superstar in your niche? Define yourself. Mark your boundaries and call it your property. And bless the world from that special place. Have an awesome Feast today! May your dreams come true, BO SANCHEZ

The Bread of Life Becomes The Bread of Wisdom

FR. ERIC SANTOS, celebrating Holy Mass on the eve of his birthday, explained the Gospel according to John 6:51-58 where Jesus says, I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world. Fr. Eric said the Lord tells us to look for food that does not spoil. In saying that He is the Bread of Life Jesus reveals that He is the Source of our spiritual nourishment, thus the way to eternal life. To have the Bread of Life, we partake of the Body and Blood of Christ during Holy Communion. When we do, we gain wisdom which is more important than mere intelligence. Fr. Eric added that EQ Emotional Quotient (EQ) is more desirable than Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Being wise means focusing on what matters in life which is maintaining a close relationship with God and with one another. Fr. Eric said dont be afraid to discover Wisdom given by God. Continue sharing in the Body and Blood of the Lord. The Bread that comes from Heaven is the Bread that becomes Wisdom and the Bread becomes Life. -- Bella Estrella

IN the third leg of our series YOUnique, Bro. Bo Sanchez revealed one more thing which makes each one of us unique: our pain. Bro. Bo shared the story of three widows from the Bibles Book of Ruth: Naomi, Ruth and Orpah. Elimelech, the husband of Naomi, and their two sons died. Naomi, an Israelite, is left with her two widowed daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah, both Moabites. At the time, widows dont inherit anything from their husband, so they are left to fend for themselves. Naomi plans to go back to her hometown in Bethlehem so she tells Orpah and Ruth to go back to their families. Orpah goes back to her family. But Ruth decides to go with Naomi in Bethlehem. To survive, she picks leftover grains from a field owned by Boaz. Boaz takes notice of her and eventually marries her. From being a beggar in the property of Boaz, Ruth becomes owner of the land. Thus, Bro. Bo pointed out, nothing just happens.* There is a God who is working behind the

No Pain, No Gain!
scenes to create our lifes beautiful picture. As Proverbs 16:9 puts it, In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Bro. Bo says pain can lead to the masterpiece God meant us to be. He gave as an example Michaelangelos Pieta, the most famous sculpture in the world. The Pieta was nothing more than a block of marble. Just like Ruth,

the stone first suffered pain. For eight long years, the stone was hammered and chiselled by Michelangelo into the masterpiece that it is now. In the same manner, when unfortunate events happen to us, it doesnt mean that God wanted it to happen. We live in a broken world where people are allowed to do good but are also allowed to do bad. But because of the mercy of God, nothing just happens. God promises in 1 Peter 1:6 that we might have to suffer trials but only for a little while. Our struggles are pathways to our success. --Kristine Mutuc Photos by Arlene Batislaong

*The story of Ruth is, in fact, part of Gods plan for our salvation. Boaz and Ruth had a son named Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, and thus the grandfather of David from whose line came Joseph and Mary, the parents of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TEE TIME, from left: Attendees swarming around T-shirt table; mom, dad, and kids wearing their tees; a barkada choosing their sizes; Francis Sanchez models the masterpiece.

I am Gods Masterpiece
By SHOJI S. MERIS Photos by ROSALYN ALBERTO IN his third talk of the series Younique, Bro Bo. Sanchez discussed pain we suffer. He shared the story of Ruth who overcame the pain of losing her husband and living in poverty. In a gist, Bro. Bos simple message last Sunday was, Nothing just happens in our life. God is always with us -- he shares in our pains and sufferings, and our joy. God uses the pain as a chisel to shape us into His marvellous masterpiece. To echo this wonderful truth, Feast PICC made a white T-shirt with the message I am Gods Master Piece decorated with all the colors of the rainbow. Modeled by Bro. Bos son Francis, the T-shirt sold briskly at the Lobby. Families and friends grabbed the T-shirts to proclaim to the world that yes, they are Gods masterpiece.

Talk 3: Your Pain Your Struggles Are the Path to Your Successes
Ruth 2:1-5 Now there was a wealthy and influential man in Bethlehem named Boaz, who was a relative of Naomis husband, Elimelech. One day Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, Let me go out into the harvest fields to pick up the stalks of grain left behind by anyone who is kind enough to let me do it. Naomi replied, All right, my daughter, go ahead. So Ruth went out to gather grain behind the harvesters. And as it happened, she found herself working in a field that belonged to Boaz, the relative of her father-in-law, Elimelech. While she was there, Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters. The LORD be with you! he said. The LORD bless you! the harvesters replied. Then Boaz asked his foreman, Who is that young woman over there? Who does she belong to? Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps. Personal Reflection and Group Discussion: How has your pain prepared you for your purpose?

TODAY
Talk 4: Your Passion and Potential You Have a Gift That Only You Can Give
James 1:7-8 If you are unable to make up your mind and are undecided in all you do, you must not think that you will receive anything from the Lord. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. 1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect your gift. Psalms 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Personal Reflection and Group Discussion: What is your passion? And what unique gift do you have that has blessed the world? How can you give more of this gift to the world?

The Feast Anytime, Anywhere

By RHODA OSALVO Photos by DAVE APALLA LOVE the Feast! Wouldnt it be good to watch it any day and any time you want? Again and again? How about sharing this experience to your family and friends right where they are? The Feast Video Ministry aims to fulfill this wish! Headed by Bro. Rudy Mallari II, Feast Video hopes to bring the Feast in homes, offices, maybe in schools even. Big or small venues, big or small crowds. The idea is to share Gods word through videos and using Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts to bring the Feast to the ends of the world! Bro. Rudy leads a team of 20 or so brave souls from various Feasts PICC, Ortigas, PICC, Quezon City, and Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City. The Feast Video Team goes around, recoding various Feasts on video. Then they edit the series of talks of Bro. Bo Sanchez and other Feast Builders and make DVD copies of the videos now available for only P500 each. The videos are also available onlineyou may download them from www.thefeastvideo.com. Dont think of it as cost though, but as a way of sharing your blessings, Bro. Rudy said. To reach out to more people, the Feast Video Team plans to put subtitles on the videos in various languages such as Filipino, Bahasa Indonesia, or Korean. With the Feast videos readily made available, Bro. Rudy dreams of 300 miniFeasts mushrooming on the first year of the Feast Video launch. But the Teams fearless forecast is that 300 may be too small a number. More like 300 on its first month. What do you say? Will you help make this dream come true? For details, call 09285035771 or log on to www.thefeastvideo.com.

FRESH AIR. Green scenery. Kayaking. Swimming. Even as we go through stormy weather bringing killer floods nowadays, I keep positive by going back to that wonderful, sunshiny day last May 19 when the Greeters and Ushers of the Warmth Ministry hied off to Sun Valley Golf, Estates Antipolo Pavilion for our fellowship and team building session. Bro. Rolly Espana, Feast PICC Council head, and Bro. Eduard Co, head of the Warmth Cluster, graced the event which well prepared us for our service this year, especially for the up coming Kerygma Conference 2012. Headed by Bro. Ed Real, the Greeters are the beautiful ladies, handsome gentlemen, and cute children welcoming you at the door of the PICC, giving you copies of The Feast. The Ushers, led by Bro. Mike Co, bring you inside the Plenary Hall and help you find a comfortable seat. Sounds an easy job? Not all the time! It can be tedious as greeters and ushers dont get to sit comfortably like attendees do throughout the Feast session. The greeters stay outside the hall to welcome latecomers, while the ushers stand at attention at either side of the hall, or at the back, ready to serve any attendee who needs to find a sit or look for a lost belonging, or escort the sick to the Medical Ministry room for first aid. So the fellowship day at Sun Valley Golf was a welcome respite for us greeters and ushers. The day started with registration and grouping for the cheerleading competition. Yes, we were there for a lot of cheers! But first, we gathered for a rousing worship led by Bro. Mike. Then, the cheering derby began! Yelling their cheers, rapping, dancingname it, the teams did it to perk up our day! And yes, we had just begun. After the cheers, we brazed up for the indoor games led by Monette Dulay of the Light of Jesus Training Ministry. The games challenged us to be creative and think out-of-the-box. Then, the more grueling outdoor games followed. I remember as most challenging the Acid Test, where you pass the hulla-hoop to your team member without allowing any part of your body touching it. Took us two long hours to pass the hulla-hoop! Sweating and exhausted, we were so ready for the next activity: Lunch! After lunch, we had our portion of spiritual nourishment through Bro. Rolly who gave an inspirational talk. He said that we are the frontliners of Feast PICC, and so we must establish warm relationship with the attendees. He added, The true nature of commitment starts from the heart. It is tested by action, and it opens the door to achievement. Bro. Eduard then presented awards to the winners of the cheering competition and the games. But Id like to think that win or lose, we all emerged as champions after our exhilarating team building session! But the day wasnt over yet. Time for swimming, kayaking, zipline, and more, more bonding! It was just one day, but our bonding last May well prepared us for our service this year, especially for the upcoming Kerygma Conference 2012 where we will welcome over 10,000 attendees at the SM Mall of Asia Arena and the SMX Convention Center by the Manila Bay on November 24-25. Kerygma Conference 2012 centers on the theme Champions, Arise! And champion Greeters and Ushers will be there to warmly welcome you!

BLESSING L O G S

Text and photos by MARIA KAREN CRISTINE G. LEGION

FOR three consecutive days, from August 7 to August 9, the killer southwest monsoon rains we now call the Habagat showed no mercy. Metro Manila was a ghost town. Relief operations poured from every corner. The amount of help, however, still seemed insufficient. As a responsible media organization, GMA, the network I work for as researcher for the news and public affairs-special assignments team, did our share of outreach efforts. Unfortunately, I was not given the chance to join the tram braving the raging winds and floods to distribute relief goods. All we had to do was record everything on tape. Our team went to Bagong Silang, Caloocan. We were sent there only to take video of whats happening in the evacuation center and interview the victims for our news broadcast. We didnt bring relief goods. So as we interviewed the victims, my heart broke. I wished we could do more for them, rather than just make a record of their plight.

Jeremy Renner, the Habagat, and My Feast Friends

By IMELDA FERRER NOW that the Habagat rains have abated, my story must be told. On August 8, I thought the rains had left for good so I headed off to Rockwell to watch the movie, The Bourne Legacy. I just had to see the movies lead actor, alpha male Jeremy Renner. My friend Rhea Ignacio said shes the wife so I am settling for second place--being his mistress.:) After the movie, as I went out of the mall, rain poured without letup. There were no jeepneys around. Thank God, I found one, single padyakyou know, those manual tricycles. I climbed in and the padyak brought me to my town proper. From there, I rode a motor-run tricy to my place. The place was flooded, so the driver refused to go on and bring me to my house. So I had to trudge along the rest of the way in murky waters. I was like a grasshopper having fun in the bleakest of weathers. Back home, I immediately showered and took two caps of doxycycline, following the instruction my Feast sister, Vicky Mallari earlier forwarded to me-a text message from the Feast Medical Ministrys Dr. Rachel Uy telling the correct dosage against leptospirosis, that killer disease youd likely to get if you waded in floodwaters. I told everyone who cared to listen that we were far luckier than the ones who

THREE years ago, Typhoon Ondoy stunned us as it sent what we thought was the worst flood that submerged Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. But last August 7, 8, and 9, it happened again. Massive Habagat or southwest monsoon rains sent us floods that left over 100 dead and damaged infrastructure and agriculture worth P3 billion. Climate change has been blamed for the disasters. But who are the culprits behind climate change? Arent we? Those among us who have no respect for Mother Nature and want only destroy her through our bad habits? Time to change our ways! Here are tips from our contributors and readers: NAMING typhoons from A to Z is as common as eating rice in the Philippines. Even if we, Filipinos, have gone through all magnitudes of typhoon imaginable, we still havent learned our lesson. How the Habagat washed out lives and properties alike was a clear manifestation that Mother Earth hasnt felt that weve done our part in saving her. Our individual acts of neglect of the environment build up to form these monstrous typhoons we run away from. Here are some tips to make Mother Earth happy again: 1. Is it really that hard to shoot that gum wrapper in the trash bin? Proper disposal of the tiniest things can go a long way. Shoot it, and you could just have saved an entire generation. 2. One click would do the trick. Done watching your favourite show? Turn the TV off. Done reading Bro. Bos bestselling book? Turn the lights off. By doing so, you did not just cut down your electric bill but you also saved up energy for future use. 3. You know the drill: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Dont just throw things away. There is some hidden purpose amid all the filth. -- Karen Legion Researcher When people see the wide-scale abuse of mankind of the environment, some get overwhelmed but if we put things in perspective we can do our own little bit. I, for one, reuse paper. I write on the back of scratch paper. I practise the 3 Rs --Recycle, Reuse, Reduce. I keep the plastic spoons when I eat out and I reuse them. I keep candy wrappers in my bag and throw them away when a garbage bin becomes available. I do not smoke. I do not keep the computer turned on all day. I turn off the lights when I dont need them. I share to my teachers Robert Fulghums All the Things I Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten. Clean your own mess And it is still true, no matter how old you are - -when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together. I train young writers to write about the environment. Awareness coupled with action and commitment make for a wonderful world. Small things, you say? Yes, small but it makes all the difference. --Imelda Ferrer Principal Killer floods mean years of not caring for the environment. We need to reverse our situation by being more responsible. Since plastics clog our drainage system, my family often uses eco bags for our groceries. The canvas bags are more durable and can be laundered and used again and again. So we dont have to use plastic bags anymore. -- Aileen Grace Alvarez Do not use products that emit chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as a propellant which experts say deplete the ozone layer. With depleted ozone layer, we will be less protected from the suns ultraviolet rays which can damage everything on Earth. -- Mariella G. The recent killer floods bring to mind passages in the Bible about our responsibilities concerning Nature. Genesis 1:28 tells Gods mandate: Then God blessed them and said, Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground. I believe reign also means be responsible. -- 2 Samuel 22:5 expresses our fear when we face evil: For the waves of death compassed me; The floods of ungodliness made me afraid. I believe being irresponsible is ungodly. And so we must fear the consequences of our irresponsibility. And Psalm 32:6 tells us how to pray that we may be saved from disasters: Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. -- Anna O.

All we could say was, Wag po kayong mag-alala. Ipaparating namin sa kinauukulan. Dont worry. Well send your request to the authorities. The uncertainty of the promises we told the victims was unbearable, but at the moment, hope was all that we could give them. Later that night, I prayed to God that our story reaches the authorities. Sadly, our story did not make it on time to be aired at the primetime news program. Still, I remained hopeful for the evacuees we left behind. Lo and behold, when I opened my Twitter account the next day, I received a tweet saying President Benigno Aquino III had visited Bagong Silang and distributed relief goods to the victims. We may not have found a way, but God did. were displaced by the monsoon rains. We had food, a place to stay dry in, warm blankets, potable water, electricity, and Internet connection. My landlady gave me three pieces of tuyo. I shared my bananas. My sons were far from me but thats another story. I am alone but I did not feel less loved because I have good friends, a caring community -- the Feast Disaster Response Management Team sent me a text asking if I needed help-- and a God who made it all possible. Thank you, Lord, for making me a member of the Light of Jesus Family. Editors Note: Have you a similar story how you have received blessings from God? Share! and let the world know miracles still do happen today to give hope especially to the lost. For details, email feasteditor@ gmail.com, or call 09399044065.
