ANGELIQUE RODRIGUES City Hall Bureau Edmontons downtown is booming - with or without the proposed downtown arena. As the $475-million deal hangs in limbo, development is
still moving forward in the citys core. According to a report by the Downtown Business Association, here are just a few of the projects in the works or proposed for the area.

Mayfair Village
n developers broke ground on the Ultima a 199-unit condominium project by Westrich Pacific on Sept. 20. The 32-storey condominium, which will feature an exquisite two-story lobby, underground parking, oversized floor to ceiling windows and curtain wall glass, is already completely sold out.

n A new museum 1/3 funded by all three levels of government 1/3 is planned for downtown Edmonton. Construction on the 36,000-square-foot building is expected to begin late-2012 and completion is scheduled for 2015.

n Mayfair Village South opened up in May 2012, and construction on Mayfair Village North is expected to begin at the end of this year. This 192unit building will include 250 parking stalls, some of which will be for public use.

n The city has pledged to renovate 108 Street between 99 Avenue and 104 Avenue. Some of the planned improvements include broad tree-lined sidewalks,ALBERTA LEGISLATURE sidewalk enhanced road and lighting, mid-block pedestrian crossings and high-quality street furnishings.

n Two high-rise condos are planned 100 Avenue for this long-vacant location. The first tower will be 27 storeys and consist of 142 units. The second will be 32storeys tall with 178 units.
103 st. and 102 ave. Estimated cost: Not available n Westrich Pacifics second condo endeavour is set to be even bigger than the first. At 40-storeys the Encore will become Edmontons tallest residential building. Construction is slated to begin in summer 2013.

n Plans to overhaul the iconic Kelly Ramsey building are currently underway. Along with a complete renovation of the building itself, a 24-story tower and underground parking will be added to the structure.
QuarTers hOTel

n Quarters is a luxury hotel set to stand 12 storeys tall, with eight floors of hotel suites and one floor of corporate office space. The hotel will also boast 3 levels of parking. Construction on the 250,000-square-foot building is expected to be complete next year.

n First & Jasper is undergoing renovations that will see about 200,000 sq. feet added to the office building. New parking lots, retail space and a rooftop garden are also in the works.

n ATB Financial is set to relocate its head office to the Telus Plaza in 2014 and the building will undergo renovations. A high definition LED screen that will wrap around the exterior of the building is being considered in the upgrades to the building.
