Pray through Gods Story (Week 24)

Focus on God
God is sovereign over human decisions, even foolish human decisions, to fulfill his promises. So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a turn of affairs brought about by the LORD that he might fulfill his word, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. (1 Kings 12:15) And he said to Jeroboam, Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the Lor d, the God of Israel, Behold, I am about to tear the kingdom from the hand of Solomon and will give you ten tribes. (1 Kings 11:31)

Respond from the Heart

Ask God for forgiveness for the times our heart turned away from him, times when we disregard his word. And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods. But he did not keep what the LORD commanded. (1 Kings 11:9-10) As you repent, claim the assurance we have in the grace of God. However, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe to your son, for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem that I have chosen. (1 Kings 11:13)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray for the many people around the world who cannot find lifes true meaning and purpose. Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun? (Ecclesiastes 1:2-3); He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Present Your Requests

Pray for an unwasted life, a life lived to the full according to Gods purposes. Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, I have no pleasure in them. (Ecclesiastes 12:1) The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

Close in Celebration
Thank God for the joys he has given you through his earthly gifts like food, work, family, etc. Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot. Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toilthis is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 5:18-19)
