Green Mythbusters
MYTH: I recycle my plastic bottles, so I dont need a reusable one. BUSTED: Water bottle production has an enormous cost in energy and oil consumption. In 2007, the U.S. used the equivalent of 32 and 54 million barrels of oil to produce and transport plastic water bottlesenough to fuel 1.5 million cars for a year. The cost in water is also high. In addition to the millions of gallons used in the plastic-making process, for every gallon of bottled water, two gallons of water are lost in the purification process.
