Double Page Spread Analysis - 3

By Rage Ali

The purpose of the short introductory paragraph is that it introduces topic , its leading paragraph. Makes reader question why shes attacking herself could be ambiguous , could be insecure. Her name highlighted to let readers who dont know who she is.

The text is in block columns , making it look less for the consumer to read. The article talks about how Florence has conquered America. The fact that its black makes it stand out against the background. The first letter of the paragraph matches the title which just makes the layout seem more professional and makes it look like the page flows better.

The purpose of the title is that its supposed to tell us what the article is about. The title cleverly plays on the title of one of Florences songs You Got The Love . The article also talks about how Florence has conquered America. The USA is in big capital letters. One reason why they decided to have it in grey is to make her stand out as she in known for her bright red hair -. I think this is effective because it reinforces the fact that she has conquered America and emphasises on her success.

In the picture we can see sitting on a box with the American flag to cover the box shes sitting on. This symbolises that she has conquered America and she has the country at her feet. Her footwear is what we notice the fact that shes wearing heels reinforces her femininity and her independence. Her legs are highlighted to add sex appeal. The cone bra made famous by Madonna emphasises her achievement and female empowerment. In the picture she is also wearing a black outfit. Black conotates with chic, quirky , different , powerful. The red hair stands out intentional , because thats what she is known for. I think this picture is effective because the main impression we can draw that she is meant to be about female empowerment.

The page number adds a sense of organisation because without it people would not know where to refer to from the contents page and there would not be a need for a contents page if the pages were not labelled.

The layout is simple. The American colour scheme is not to overdone. However the background is grey. Grey conotates with plain , dull , boring. However having Florence pose in front of this background makes her stand out even more. The black font makes the text stand out as well. The layout hints interview topic without reading the article we can tell that its something to do with the artists success in the States.
