KATHERINE MCNENNY
Originally from the East Bay in Northern California, Ms. McNenny has worked in the Los Angeles garment industry since the mid 1990s. After completing classes at Otis College of Art & Design she worked extensively in and around downtown L.A.s industrial areas which lead to her growing passion and curiosity for the place. In 2009 she decided to make Downtown L.A. her home and became very interested in the notable absence of trees in Skid Row. Her community advocacy started when she decided to coordinate a neighborhood tree planting of 7 trees. Encouraged by this small effort and supported by her neighbors, another tree planting of 19 trees and several guerrilla-style drought tolerant gardens soon followed. In 2013, Ms. McNenny became the Public Chair of the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Parks and Open Space Committee and she continues to advocate for her community through various avenues. Ms. McNenny is currently a Production Patternmaker in Culver City working on mens and womens contemporary clothing. She maintains a blog about local community improvement efforts at: http://treesonsanpedrostproject.wordpress.com/

Mr. McMath began to take a keen interest in Skid Row related issues after purchasing a loft unit in the Toy District in 2009. Since then he has worked closely with other concerned Skid Row residents on quality of life problems plaguing the area including petty crime, unsanitary streets, lack of trash receptacles, inoperative street lighting, and rodent infestations. He has also worked with Ms. McNenny on neighborhood beautification initiatives.

He moved to Los Angeles 5 years ago via the Bay Area, is currently pursuing a MBA at UCLA Anderson, and as a downtown resident, is committed to improving the environment of his community. Mr. Herbert is driven by the opportunity to create a sustainable non-profit in Industrial District Green by bringing his experience in the private sector to this socially responsible cause. His operations management experience ranges from a major industrial supply company to an online luxury-goods retailer; he has also volunteered in providing career-counseling services to over 150 homeless and economicallydisadvantaged individuals in downtown LA.
