This past week we have been working on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with decimals in course 2 Holt Mathematics. We will be changing up our class outlook and be working in small group settings with course 2. In course 3 we have been working with squares and square roots, which will be used when we get into the Pythagorean Theorem. In both math classes we are working on solving more word problems.

November
Parent/Teacher/Student ConferencesNovember 14th and 15th Day of School- Friday Nov. 16th No School- November 21st-25th Report cards- Friday Nov. 30th Spirit Day- Friday Dec. 7th

Due to your students seeing different teachers for all subject areas this year you have the opportunity to choose what teacher you would like to see. It does NOT have to be your childs homeroom teacher. However, you may only sign up with one teacher you cannot make three different conferences because that would take away from others. Please remember that conferences are only 10 minutes to accommodate the teachers seeing more than their homeroom class. You can sign up for these at the office. Conference sheets are coming home with your student today. Please make sure that you return them as soon as possible so that we can prepare for your conference. Thank you.

Language Arts

with Ms. Textor

This past week in writing, classes have moved on from their first rough draft to their second, editing one anothers papers with the correct editing symbols and signs. Students are also in the process of conferencing with the teacher to determine what changes need to be made to create a successful paper. Students may be at different stages until the final copy is turned in. The final paper will be due Wednesday the 21st. In book clubs, students read chapters three and four. While reading students were taking notes and answered questions about each chapter while looking up their Hunger Games vocabulary words to determine which definition was used in the book specifically. Next week students will be quizzed on these chapters and continue reading with chapters five and six.

Fall conferences will take place on the evenings of November 14th and 15th. Each family will be given a 10 minute time slot to discuss NWEA scores, goals, classroom academies, and behavior in class. Signups are in the office. Please sign up ASAP!!!
