1x13 – A Fine Line

(Sun Kwon & Jin Kwon Centric)

Previously on LOST:

1) Kate and Claire in the jungle as Claire goes into labour.

2) Kate telling Jin to get Jack, who then runs off.
3) Locke telling Boone about his dream.
4) Locke and Boone’s bet.
5) Boone climbing up to the plane which then crashes.
6) Locke taking Boone to Jack.
7) Sun telling Jin she was married once before but he died in
a plane crash. (Flashback 1x05)

Exterior. Jungle. (Day).

We see Jin running through the jungle before he bursts out of

the trees out onto the beach. He looks around frantically before
locating Jack who is beside his tent. Sun is there, stood beside
Jack, along with Locke who is looking down at Boone. Jin runs
up to them and says:

Jin:
(Subtitled) Claire! In the jungle. She’s in labour.

Jack looks at Jin and shrugs, before turning to look at Sun who
begins to translate as Jin talks.

Sun:
He says Claire’s gone into labour!

Jack:
What?! Where is she?

Sun repeats this to Jin in Korean.

Jin:
(Subtitled) She’s back there in the jungle. Kate’s with her.

Sun:
Kate’s with her. In the jungle.
 Jack begins to go through some bags which we see are full of
medicines that were rescued from the plane crash.

Jack:
Tell him to go back to Kate and Claire. Kate is going to have to
deliver the baby. I can’t leave Boone. He’ll die otherwise.

Sun repeats what Jack is saying as he continues:

Jack:
Tell Kate not to let Claire start pushing until the contractions are
one minute apart. Not before!

As Sun finishes translating Charlie comes over.

Charlie:
What’s this about Claire?!

Sun:
She’s gone into labour!

Charlie:
What?!

Jack:
Jin! Go!

Jin turns and runs back towards the jungle with Charlie
following him. The camera remains on Jack.

Jack:
He has a collapsed lung... Locke, I need you to tell me exactly
what happened.

When he gets no reply, Jack looks up and see’s that Locke has
gone!

Jack:
Where the hell has he gone?!

Sun:
 I don’t know. He just... went.

Jack:
Never mind that for now... Sun, I need you to find Libby. Tell her
Boone has been injured...

Sun:
She’s gone. With Hurley. They went on a ‘date’.

Jack:
Oh God! Erm... Do you know where they’ve gone?

Sun:
No, Hurley wouldn’t say. He didn’t want it to be spoilt to Libby.

Jack:
He needs a blood transplant! I was hoping he and Libby would
have the same blood type. But I guess that’s out of the
window... go get some help of someone. Then ask around. We
need to find out people’s blood type.

Sun:
But what if...

Jack:
Sun, go!

Sun turns and rushes off down the jungle as the camera fades
to black.

-LOST-
Commercial Break.

Interior. Sun Apartment – Korea. (Day).

We see Sun sat down on a sofa with a dog whilst watching TV.
Her phone rings and she answers it.

Sun:
(Subtitled) Hello?

Jin (O.S.):
 (Subtitled) Hey, Sun.

Sun:
(Subtitled) Jin! Hey.

Jin:
(Subtitled) I was just ringing... to see if... you wanted to go out
sometime?

Sun:
(Grinning, Subtitled) Go out... as in a date?

Jin:
(Subtitled) Yeah... if you like?

Sun:
(Subtitled) I’d like that. Yeah.

Jin:
(Subtitled) Cool. I’ll come pick you up at 8. Bye.

Jin hangs up the phone and Sun puts it down. She goes back to
watching the TV, smiling to herself. We now can hear what is
being said on the TV as the camera pas round to show the
reporter.

Reporter:
(Subtitled) News just in! Oceanic Flight 316 has gone missing.
The flight, which was heading back towards Korea from LA, was
five hours into the flight when it went missing from radars.
Officials from Oceanic have informed us that they don’t know
where the plane is but they are doing everything in their power
to locate the plane.

The camera pans to back to Sun as she leans forward to listen.

Reporter:
(Subtitled) Even if the wreckage is found, it is doubtful that
there will be any survivors. The plane disappeared when it was
in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is believed that all bodies
may have been lost at sea...
Sun jumps up from the sofa and rushes over to her coat which
is hanging beside the front door. She ruffles through the
pockets for a moment before taking her cell phone out of it.
She presses a couple of buttons and puts the phone to her ear.

Electronic Voice:
(Subtitled) You have one saved message. Please press 1 to
listen to it.

Sun presses 1 on the keypad and puts the phone back to her
ear. We hear a voice speak and we recognise it as Jae Lee.

Jae (Voice):
(Subtitled) Sun... I want to try and make it work. I know that I
messed everything up, but I miss you. So much. I’ll be back
from the conference on the 20th. I’ll be on Flight 316... Please,
come to meet me when I land... I’m sorry, but I know we can
make this work.

Sun hangs up the phone as she looks back at the TV. The
camera focuses on her face as she starts to cry realising her
ex. Husband was on the plane. That her ex. Husband is dead.
The flashback sound is heard...

Exterior. Jungle. (Day).

We see Jin and Charlie running through the jungle as we hear

Claire screaming. They arrive in a clearing and the camera
pans round to show Kate and Claire as Jin and Charlie run up to
them.

Jin:
Boone... injured! Jack says you deliver baby!

Kate:
What?!

Jin:
Don’t push... till one minute!

Kate turns to look at Claire who looks back; petrified.

 Claire:
You can’t!

Kate:
But Jack can’t come... I’ll have too!

Claire:
Kate, please.

Kate:
Claire, I’m sorry but I’m going to have to. Jack can’t come... and
you can’t wait! You can’t stop the baby from coming. Because it
is Claire. The baby is coming. And soon/

Claire:
I’m scared...

Kate:
(Taking Claire’s hands)
So am I. Believe me... I’m petrified! But Claire, it’s going to be
ok. I promise you.

Kate turns to Charlie and Jin.

Kate:
Charlie, Jin... you need to go.

Charlie and Jin move away from Kate and Claire further into the
jungle as the camera cuts back to Kate and Claire.

Kate:
(Looking at her watch)
Now I need to time. The contractions.

The camera focuses on Claire’s face as she begins to scream.

The camera cuts to:

Exterior. Beach. (Day).

We see Jack knelt down beside Boone going through some bags
as Sun and Nadia run up to him.
 Sun:
We’ve asked around. Most people don’t know their blood type!
A have a few A-, a B+ an...

Jack:
(Cutting her off)
Do you have an O-?

Sun:
What? Why?

Jack:
Because that’s what Boone is. He woke up for a moment... and
he told me.

Nadia:
No... We didn’t get one of them. But we didn’t ask Charlie. Or
Jin. Or Kate.

Jack:
Sun... Go and find them in the jungle. And ask them.

Sun:
But where are they?

Jack:
(Raising his voice)
I don’t know! Just find them!

Nadia:
What do you want me to do?

Jack:
Find Sayid. And then tell him to find Locke! And bring him back
here.

Sun runs off into the jungle as Nadia rushes down the beach.
Jack looks down after her and spots Luke. He rushes towards
him.

Jack:
Luke... I need your help.
 Jack beckons Luke to follow him as he moves back towards
Boone. Luke follows him.

Luke:
Yeah. What is it?

Jack:
I’m going to need something sharp. Sharp enough to puncture
a vein.

Luke:
What? Why?!

Jack:
He needs a blood transfusion. Otherwise he is going to die.

Luke:
What happened too him?!

Jack:
I don’t know! Locke... He’s gone. And Libby... I don’t know
where she is. It’s just us. And I need to help him. And I need
your help. So please, stop asking questions and go and find
something!

The camera pans down to Boone’s face as he is in agony. The

camera fades to black.

Commercial Break.

Exterior. Beach. (Day).

We see Luke running up the beach with something in his hand.

He stops as he reaches Jack’s tent.

Luke:
I found this – a sea urchin. Is it sharp enough?

Jack examines the sea urchin before taking it from Luke. He

takes one of the needles from it and prods it into the end of his
finder. He puts it down on the beach.
 Jack:
It’s fine. We just need to wait for Sun to return now.

Luke:
You want me to go and find her?

Jack:
Sure... If you want.

Luke runs off into the jungle as the camera cuts to:

Exterior. Jungle. (Day).

We see Claire screaming as Kate is still timing her contractions.

Luke comes running out of the jungle into the clearing.

Luke:
Boone needs a blood transfusion! We need someone with O-
blood. We can’t find anyone!

Kate:
I’m... O-...

Luke:
Excellent! Let’s go.

Kate:
What about Claire?! Luke... you’re going to have to deliver the
baby!

Luke:
I can’t.

Kate:
Wait till the contractions are 1 minute apart. And then get her
to push.

Luke:
I can’t!

Kate:
 You have to. There’s no one else!

Kate rushes off into the jungle as Sun rushes into the clearing.

Sun:
Where’s Kate?!

Luke:
You just missed her. She’s O-. She’s gone back to the beach...

Sun:
Oh... I best get back then. Jack’s going to need help.

Sun rushes out of the clearing after Kate as the flashback

sound is heard...

Flashback. Interior. Paik Offices – Korea. (Day).

We see Jin stood in front of a desk which has a man sat behind
it.

Jin:
(Subtitled) So... Mr. Paik... I was wondering if umm... I came
here to ask for your daughter’s hand in marriage.

This man is Sun’s father. And we are seeing Jin ask for his
permission to marry her which was reference in their last
flashback.

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) Jin... you know that you’re already like a son to me.
Of course you can marry her.

Mr. Paik smiles at Jin and holds his hand out. Jin shakes it and
smiles back.

Jin:
(Subtitled) Thank-you... so much.

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) Tell Sun I’ll call her later.
 Jin bows to Mr. Paik and exits the room. The camera cuts to
show Jin walking towards Sun who is stood on a small bridge.

Jin:
(Subtitled) So, I spoke to him.

The flashback sound is heard...

Exterior. Jungle. (Night).

Claire is still sat on the uprooted tree in the middle of the

clearing. Luke is stood in front of her. Claire is screaming,
sweating, crying.

Luke:
Come on Claire. Just one more push.... you can do it!

Claire screams again and pushes. We hear a baby crying and

Luke lifts the baby up. Charlie and Jin are heard cheering.

Luke:
Guys! I need a towel.

Charlie and Jin rush into the clearing; Charlie holding a towel.
He hands it too Luke who wraps it around the baby. Luke brings
the baby up to Claire who smiles.

Claire:
I did it.

Luke:
Yeah, you did. You were amazing. And the baby... the baby’s
fine.

Luke hands the baby to Claire who brings it up to her face.

Claire kisses her baby on its head.

Luke:
It’s a boy.

Claire:
Aaron... I want to call him Aaron. It’s what Thomas wanted...
The camera focuses on Claire and Aaron before panning up to
Jin. The flashback sound is heard...

Flashback. Interior. Paik Offices – Korea. (Day).

We see Jin stood in front of Mr. Paik’s desk once again. There is
a box in the middle of the desk.

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) Now, you’ve worked for me for a year now, Jin. And
you’ve been married too my daughter for nearly a year... I have
a gift for you.

Mr. Paik swivels round in his chair and opens a cupboard behind
him. We see a safe in the cupboard. He inputs the code and
opens the safe. He takes an envelope out of the safe and
swivels back round. Mr. Paik hands the envelope to Jin.

Jin:
(Subtitled) What’s this?

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) Open it.

Jin opens the envelope and takes out its contents. We see that
it is two planes tickets for Oceanic.

Jin:
(Subtitled) What’s this?

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) Plane tickets. For your honeymoon with my
daughter. To Australia.

Jin:
(Subtitled) Are you serious?! Thank-you!

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) When you’re in Australia, I need you to do
something for me though.
 Jin:
(Subtitled) Oh?

Mr. Paik:
(Subtitled) This here is a watch.
(Indicated the box in the middle of the table)
I need you to deliver it to an associate of mine.

Jin:
(Subtitled) Sure.

Jin picks up the box and puts it into his pocket along with the
envelope containing his plane tickets.

Jin:
(Subtitled) Thank-you again, Sir.

Jin bows to Mr. Paik and turns to leave the office. The camera
fades to black.

Commercial Break.

Exterior. Beach. (Night).

We see Kate sat on the beach beside Boone. Kate has a plastic
pipe in her arm which is pumping blood into Boone. Jack and
Sun are stood over them watching this.

Kate:
Are you sure this is going to work?

Jack:
I don’t know. Hopefully...

Kate:
How will you know? If it works?

Jack:
If he lives.

Jack bends down to Boone and checks his pulse.

 Jack:
It’s weak. But it’s there.

The camera pans up and we see Sayid coming down the beach
with Nadia. They stop as they reach Jack’s tent.

Jack:
Did you find him?!

Sayid:
No. I’ve looked all day but I can’t find him anywhere.

Jack:
If Boone dies, it’s Locke’s fault!

Sun:
Calm down, Jack.

Jack:
I think that’s enough.

Jack takes the pipe out of Kate’s arm who rubs it, groaning a
little. Sun turns to Jack as the flashback sound is heard...

Exterior. Street – Australia. (Day).

We see Jin walking out of a door onto the street and see’s Sun
standing beside the road. He walks over to her and kisses her.

Sun:
(Subtitled) You all done?

Jin:
(Subtitled) Yeah, I gave him the watch.

Sun:
(Subtitled) He like it?

Jin:
(Subtitled) Yeah, I think so. Let’s go.

Sun:
 (Subtitled) Where too?

Jin:
(Subtitled) I’m hungry.

Sun:
(Subtitled – Laughing) You’re always hungry.

Sun and Jin begin to walk down the street holding hands.

Sun:
(Subtitled) What time does the plane leave tomorrow?

Jin:
(Subtitled) 11am.

Sun:
(Subtitled) What time do you think we’ll land in LA?

Jin:
(Subtitled) I dunno. I can’t wait though.

Sun laughs and kisses Jin as the flashback sound is heard...

Exterior. Beach. (Night).

Jack is bent down to Boone, checking him.

Kate:
Did it work?!

Jack:
I dunno... He’s not breathing!

Jack begins to pound Boone’s chest. Nothing. He holds Boone’s

nose and blows air into his mouth. Nothing. He pounds on
Boone’s chest again as the camera zooms out to show the
whole group. We hear Jack grunting as he continues to punch
and punch. The camera fades to black.
