Meeting with English speaking parents With the School council board of directors December 3, 2012 Present : Mark

Bland, Norman Blais, Maryse Culham, David Michaud, Gisle Charbonneau, Karen Chalmers-Beaulieu, Tina Gagn, Isabelle Lessard, Nicole Brousseau, Deanna Michaels, Donna Ayotte et Gregory Kluthe, Louise Reidy (coordonnatrice Franco-accueil). 1. Welcome & stated purpose of the meeting by Norman Blais, president - Will discuss around what is positive and possible, needs to be met for the benefit of the students. Round table introductions of those present, grades of children and where applicable, the position held on the board of directors for the School Council. Discussions proceeded around: - Possibility of having a translation icon close to the information items on the schools internet page to facilitate easy access to the information put forth by the school. - Maryse Culham, vice-president, gives a quick resume of the school council meeting held in October, which revolved around the results of the achievement and diploma exams and the subject of the bursary funds for graduating students. - Fundraising ideas were suggested to boost the bursary fund: Bowling competition, Gift Cards from Sobeys and CO-OP Internet rebates from shopping on-line CFCW 790 groups can apply to them for fundraising their hockey team The Critters against a community team idea for next year. - Explanation of what BBSV (Beaux-Lacs, Beausjour, Sommet & Voyageur) is: Days where the students from the 4 schools in the East Central Francophone Education Region 3 (Conseil scolaire Centre-Est) get together to enjoy different activities in French with other Francophone students. A variety of activities are available for the students to choose from. Each school takes a turn to host this activity. The cultural events organized in collaboration with the teachers are another way that parents can be involved as volunteers. There is a list available in French and in English that itemizes the duties for each event, when they happen and which grades they involve. - The principal clarifies that the funds that the parents pay at the beginning of the year are spent to cover some of the costs of these extracurricular activities.
