ACTIVITY 1 - Website Activity

This activity is offering you practice in navigating around the website of an English
Primary School. The school Heath Mount Primary School and it is in the English city of
Birmingham. The reason for choosing this school is that the UVic-UCC has an
agreement with the school which allows us to send one or two students each year to
do their final placement there.

The name of the head teacher of the School is Ms Fance.
2. What is the name of the Math’s coordinator?
The name of the Math’s coordinator of the School is Mr Hankinson.
3. Which are the school’s ethos and values?
- Heath Mount Primary School is a family school.
- They hold core values at the heart of all that we do. Hard work,
Enjoyment, Aspiration, Respect and Teamwork.
- They pretend that their children be passionate and enthusiastic in their
studies.
- Also the values of the school are democracy, rule of law, individual
liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and
beliefs.
4. How much does the school lunch cost now?
The price of school meals is £2.35 per day (£11.75 for the week), but all
children who are in reception, first two years are entitled to a free school
meal irrespective of parental circumstances. This means that if you have a
child in these years they may have a hot meal from school.
5. When does the summer term start and finish?
Summer term starts on Monday 25th April (2022)
Summer term ends on Thursday 21st July (2022)
6. The school uses the app Parent Pay. What are the main factors and what is
used to?
First of all they have to sing this secure website called Parent Pay, so they
will be able to pay online using their credit / debit card or continue making
cash payments at Pay Point stores.
7. What are the five core learning characteristics of the school? Explain each one
of them briefly using your own words.
1. Hard Work: One of their targets is that students will be able to work
independently.
2. Enjoyment: They give to the children the opportunity to engage with
learning through creative and stimulating learning.
3. Aspirations: Also students set themselves with high expectations.
4. Respect: Their students show respect for the diversity in our curriculum.
5. Teamwork: Children can work collaboratively in a supportive climate and
display innovation.

8. What does the Online training for UK state schools work and how much does
it cost?
- A day of online training is made up of 5 hours of training. The day is
usually four sessions of 1 hour 15 minutes (with at least a 20 minute
break between each session).
- Online training costs £1250.
- The maximum number of delegates on a training day is 50 people. If
your numbers exceed 50, then there is an additional fee of £50 per
person.

12. Which is the impact on school attainment?

The statistics shows us that Talk for Writing schools attain at a significantly higher
standard than the national average, and they also demonstrates that, since 2016,
there has been a significant improve. Their schools use the teaching approaches in all
subjects, so is this the reason why children are taught the language structures they
need to think and express themselves as mathematicians, scientists and historians.

Also their schools use the core direct teaching strategies around well-defined,
cumulative curriculum, informed by formative assessment, and their targets think that
for the coming years will be to strengthen reading and writing at greater profundity, to
focusing.
