Principal’s Message

The first few weeks at Ryerson have flown by and I am excitedto say that it has been a wonderful experience so far. Thestudents and staff have been very welcoming and I have had theopportunity to drop in and read to just about every class. Thechildren are helping me remember names and are very
forgiving when I have to ask them to tell me ‘one more time’!
I am so impressed with the academic and social opportunitiesfor learning that happen here at Ryerson. Many students havealready come to read to me and I have received numerous notesand letters from Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. I havehappily posted these on my new office bulletin board so I canshare how much I value and respect the work they do. As Itravel the halls I see so many examples of excellent studentwork posted and celebrated. Many students have also hadopportunities this month to visit the Safety Village and theOutdoor Education Centres to broaden their understanding andexperience. The Beachball Volleyball league has been in fullswing for the juniors and the whole school has had a chance toaudition for the up-coming talent show on April 18
th
. I hope tomeet many families on the evening of the 18
th
and look forwardto learning more about the very talented students at Ryerson!I have also had the pleasure of meeting with the RyersonSchool Council and have been very impressed with the energyand dedication of this team. They are presently planning a Craftand Bake Sale on April 27

to raise funds for the
schoolgrounds.

 it's Fannntastic!
Ryerson started another exciting intramural, BeachballVolleyball. This intramural is only open to junior students. There are over 80 people that have committedto play. All participants are divided into 8 teams and allteams play 3 games. The top teams will the play in thesemi-finals. All games will be at 2
nd
nutrition break. These games are followed by some fantastic PAannouncements lead by Mme Pedersen. The studentswho played hard will be recognized with a sportynickname on the announcements. As usual, we willhave the friendly staff vs Gr. 6 all-
star game. What’s
aseason without it. The BVL games are lead by MsBates, Mrs. Roberge, Mr. Grant and Mme Pedersen. The reason that we have intramurals is so students canlearn to cooperate with team-mates and get active.Good luck to all the teams and have a fun season!
