Essential Question (s): - What can you learn from reading a nonfiction text. - How can reading relate to science? - How can I cooperatively work with my peers? - How can research help me to understand the animal that I am researching? -How can I use map skills to measure distance?

Student Objectives (outcomes): - Students will be able to help one another in finding resources and information about the animals. Students will be able to discuss things that they are finding and learning. -Students will be able to find and measure the distances on a map.

Stage 2- Assessment Evidence

Performance Task (s): - Students will help other students look for resources and text to use. They will begin discussing with each other about the things they have already researched. Students will share some of their readings with each other and give feedback on what the other student may need to look for or research more. Students will also keep journaling things they find.

Other Evidence: -Students journals were help to check for student understanding.

Stage 3- Learning Plan Learning Activities: - Students will read with a partner. Students will get with a partner and discuss with each other about what they have learned so far. Students should share with each other the books they have chosen to use in their research and give feedback on what they think about the books. They will give verbal book reviews stating why they like certain books and why they felt they are most useful in their project. They will give one another ideas of things they should improve on.
