Initial cleanup efforts from May to July 2012 involved removing 333 hypodermic needles, 120 cubic yards of waste, and establishing storage for abandoned property. Subsequent spot cleanings and a comprehensive 7-day cleaning in August removed additional needles and waste. Through ongoing maintenance and quarterly cleanings planned for 2013, the operation achieved a 97% reduction in trash and 91% reduction in human waste, addressing the public health hazards.
