Solidarity Statement The international trade union network TIE Global shows its solidarity with the strikes

and struggles of the Egyptian Federation of Independent Trade Unions which will begin on 30th June. The trade unions struggle for freedom, justice, dignity and democracy, the aims of the revolution, together with other social movements. Independent trade unions and workers had and have an important role in the revolution: without their strikes and struggles, Mubarak would not be dispossessed. But the new government of Mursi and the Muslim brotherhood turns a deaf ear to the demands of the workers. They continue the neoliberal policy of Mubarak, they govern corruptly and autocratically. They try to turn back the achievements of the revolution. The workers demands are still as current as they were two years ago: they demand health provision at work, secure contracts, a minimum wage of 150 Euros, a maximum salary of 1500 Euros, pegging salaries to the rising costs of living instead of onto productivity, mandatory subsidies for basic necessities, nationalization of the monopolies and privatized companies and running them for the welfare of the workers, not the businessmen, approval of law allowing free trade unions. We support your struggle. If social movements and trade unions struggle together, they will win a better life und the people in Egypt know how to get rid of a corrupt and undemocratic regime!
