Assistant Information Technology Program (ITP) USC Viterbi School of Engineering itp.usc.edu The Information Technology Program in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering is seeking a part-time (20 hours/week) Graduate Assistant for the Fall 2013 semester. The position will pay $13/hour. Responsibilities will include assisting student services staff with answering student questions related to minors and specializations offered, holding new student advising sessions to help students declare a minor, processing student and faculty requests, routinely managing social media, and event planning. The Graduate Assistant should be interested in working with the undergraduate student population and preferably have some knowledge of campus resources. This position will provide a good opportunity for a graduate student interested in academic advising and learning about higher education administration. Duties: -Hold individual academic advising sessions for prospective students interested in one of the nine minors offered by ITP. -Process prerequisite waivers and d-clearance requests by learning how to navigate the USC Student Information System (SIS). -Manage specialization enrollment and place certificate orders -Assist staff with organization of student events; attend when possible -Respond to emails and phone calls from prospective students -Update social media sites -Update department website -Prepare Word documents and excel spreadsheets as needed -Create event flyers -Assist front office as needed; greet visitors, answer phone calls, copy/scan - Assist staff with advisement tasks, schedule of classes preparation, curriculum coordination, and other miscellaneous tasks and requests Qualifications: -Candidate should be organized and self-motivated, with strong communication skills. -Must be able to work with diverse constituencies such as faculty, staff and students. -Proficient in Word and Excel.
